Secretary General Sultan Raev spoke at the Diplomacy Panel held at the Youth Gathering of the Turkic World
Issues discussed at the panel on ‘The Future Vision of the Turkic World: Youth, Cooperation and Diplomacy’ held within the framework of the Youth Gathering of the Turkic World in Kocaeli pertained to cooperation between Turkic states and the role of young people in building a shared future.
Coordinated by the Directorate of ther AK Party for Relations with Turkic States and hosted by the Metropolitan Municipality of Kocaeli, the panel, held on October 10th, 2026 was moderated by Meryem Aybike Sinan Gündoğdu, the Deputy Head of the Directorate of the AK Party for Relations with Turkic States.
Keynote speakers of the panel were Mr. Sultan Raev, the Secretary General of TURKSOY, H. E. Mr. Reshad Aslanov, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ankara; H. E. Mr. Yerkebulan Sapiyev, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Ankara and H. E. Mr. Ismet Korukoğlu, the Ambassador of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to Ankara.
The speakers, who expressed their views on a shared vision for the future of the Turkic World, emphasised the importance of youth diplomacy, cultural rapprochement and multilateral cooperation amongst Turkic states.
Raev: “Culture is one of the most powerful languages of diplomacy”
Speaking at the panel, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev stated that the future of the Turkic World will be shaped on the basis of a common language, history and cultural memory.
Noting that the process of cultural cooperation, which began with the establishment of TURKSOY in 1993, has now evolved into strategic partnerships in the political, diplomatic and economic spheres, Secretary General Raev emphasised the importance of joint work on a common alphabet and the strengthening of historical awareness.
“Culture is one of the most powerful languages of diplomacy. Indeed, every negotiation requires trust and every reconciliation requires mutual understanding” said Raev, calling upon young people to learn one another’s languages, develop joint projects and cooperate in the fields of science, art and technology. Secretary General Raev who also drew attention to the historic responsibility born by young people on their shoulders, stated that: “Our generation has witnessed the reunion of the Turkic World. Your generation, however, will transform this reunion into shared success stories.”
At the end of his speech, Secretary General Raev expressed his gratitude to Prof. Dr Kürşad Zorlu, the Deputy Chairman of the AK Party, who spearheaded the gathering, and the Metropolitan Municipality Kocaeli for hosting the event and stressed that the greatest strength of the Turkic World lies in its shared civilisational heritage and its young generations which will carry this heritage into the future.
