Kyrgyz director Sher Niyaz honoured at the 11th Documentary Film Festival of the Turkic World

The Kyrgyz director and screenwriter Sadyk Sher Niyaz was honoured for his contributions to the art of cinema of the Turkic World.

According to a statement from the Kyrgyz Embassy in Ankara, the closing and awards’ ceremony of the festival launched to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Turkic peoples took place on October 9th, 2026.

At the ceremony, where 21 individuals were handed over various awards following deliberations of the jury, the Kyrgyz director, screenwriter and intellectual Sadyk Sher Niyaz was also honoured with an award.

The award was presented to Mr. Sadyk Sher Niyaz in recognition of his “significant contributions to the development of cinema in the Turkic World, the promotion of shared cultural values, and his role in strengthening international ties through the art of cinema”.
