Performance of the play ‘Everything will fall into place’ by the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University
Organised under the auspices of the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), with the support of TIKA, the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Turkish-Kazakh University, the Governorate and the Municipality of the Turkistan, TIKA and the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, the the 4th International Student Theatre Festival of the Turkic World is further hosting young talents of the Turkic World.
Another notable event of the festival was the play “Everything will fall into place” performed by students from the Department of Performing Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University.
Adapted from the folk tales of Apendi (Nasreddin Hoca), the play features a combination of improvised folk comedy and mask theatre in which actors did not merely portray their characters but also took on different personas through the use of puppets and masks. Whilst the basic plot was kept as such, the production—which unfolds through live improvisation from start to finish—takes on a new form with every performance.
Interactive stage performance
The play involving the audience in the plot performed on stage actors through direct communication was strongly appreciated for its innovative character. Lasting approximately one hour, the interactive performance directly relied on acting skills, imagination and the live connection established with the audience, without the need for an elaborate setting.
