‘Golden Pen’ Prize awarded to TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev

Mr. Sultan Raev, the Secretary General of the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) and Kyrgyz author has been awarded the international ‘Golden Pen’ (Zolotoye Pero) literature prize for his novel “The Flood”.

The award, which recognises the world’s finest works, was handed over to Secretary General Raev by the literature community of Moscow upon decision of an international jury. First launched in 2004 and featuring the participation of authors from over 70 countries, the organisation is regarded as one of the independent literature initiatives in its field.

Up to now, the prize, which is being awarded every year to authors worldwide has been received by authors from countries such as the USA, Germany, France and China including famous authors like Fazıl Iskender, Rimma Kazakova, Mihail Nojkin and Mihail Zadornov.

The novel “Topon”, in which the author explores themes such as human destiny and social values, has previously been translated into Italian, Hungarian, Russian, Azerbaijani, Kazakh and Uzbek, reaching out to readers throughout different regions worldwide.

The work also previously won the grand prize at an international literary competition held in Sweden. Mr. Raev had previously won an international prize named after the Nobel Prize-winning author Henryk Sienkiewicz for his literary works.
