Colourful kick-off event for the 2025 edition of the MEIKIN ASIA Festival
The city of Cholpon-Ata, located on the shores of Issyk Kul Lake in Kyrgyzstan, is hosting the MEIKIN ASOA International Song Competition, an international event taking place from July 20th to July 22nd, 2025. The festival, now in its fourth year, began with a grand opening ceremony.
Following an impressive stage performance entitled ‘One Stage – One World – One Voice,’ the festival was officially opened with a speech by M. K. Mambetaliyev, Minister of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic. Guests and art enthusiasts who gathered at the festival venue followed the opening programme with great interest.
The event which features over 25 young artists from Europe, the Balkans, Central Asia, and the Turkic World, is represented by Ece Ata from Istanbul, Türkiye alongside with artists such as Sanan Mammadli from Azerbaijan, Bekjan Kayratuly from Kazakhstan, and Tulkin Tajiev from Uzbekistan; Polina Taseva (North Macedonia), Andjela Šutić (Serbia), Esma Numanović (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Gabriela Braičić (Croatia), Maja Marinčič (Slovenia), Ariana Dogotar (Moldova), Daoud Nicolas Chalhoub (Spain) and Frédéric D'Angelo (France) were among the notable participants who took the scene on the first day of the festival which ended with a concert by renowned pop music artists from Kyrgyzstan following performances of contestants in their native languages.
Organised with the support of the International Organisation of Turkic Culture TURKSOY, the MEIKIN ASIA International Song Competition provides young artists with an opportunity to express themselves on an international stage while serving as a platform which promotes intercultural dialogue and cooperation in the field of music.
The festival will end with an award ceremony and gala concert on July 22nd, 2025.
