TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev met with the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Mr. Tamás Menczer

In the meeting which took place in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary  and during which  Secretary General Raev and the Secretary of State Tamás Menczer discussed issues pertaining to the cooperation between TURKSOY and Hungary, Mr. Menczer expressed his pleasure as to the fact that Mr. Raev was elected Secretary General of TURKSOY at the Extraordinary Meeting of its Permanent Council held in Bursa  and reiterated the fact that the Hungarian Government will be supporting Mr Raev in activities of cultural diplomacy he will be carrying out.

In the meeting where it was also stressed that bilateral activities carried out by Hungary with TURKSOY member countries since  2010 have led to major achievements for the afore-mentioned countries in terms of economy, diplomacy and politics both parties agreed upon the renewal of the MoU regarding the cooperation between Hungary and TURKSOY as well as upon the widening of the scope thereof.

While the Hungarian side confirmed its participation in celebrations of the  30th anniversary of TURKSOY in 2023 it also asserted its readiness to support activities to be carried out by TURKSOY within the framework of the Petöfi Year together with diplomatic missions of Hungary in the Turkic World.

Mr. Tamás Menczer further expressed his gratitude to TURKSOY for his contrinbution to the promotion of Turcology activities carried out by Hungarian artists and intellectuals.

TURKSOY Secretary General  Sultan Raev congratulated Mr. Tamás Menczer for his election as an MP  and wished him success in his activities. Mr. Raev who also said that the support of the Hungarian state regarding events to be carried out in the United Nations and UNESCO on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of TURKSOY next year as well as the participation of Hungarian artists therein will be strongly appreciated  further added that various steps will be taken towards the cooperation between Vezsprem, the European Capital of Culture  2023 and Shusha, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2023 with a view to ensuring the promotion of both cities on a mutual basis.

In the statement he delivered after his meeting with Secretary General Raev Mr. Menczer said: ''Within the last 10 years, the volume of mutual trade between Hungary and countries of the Organization of Turkic States has doubled! Besides  mutual cooperation in the field of economy and trade, the strengthening of cultural ties is of course very important too. Therefore, we had a meeting with  TURKSOY Secretary General  Sultan Raev  today. The year 2023 marks the 200th anniversary of the birthday of the famous Hungarian poet Sándor Petőfi. Hence, we have discussed in detail opportunities of mutual cooperation in the field of culture including joint activities we could carry out together.''
