Wonderful opening ceremony for Bursa, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2022

Bursa, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2022 declared as such by the International Organization of Turkic Culture hosted a wonderful opening event.

The event took place in the presence of a large audience gathering citizens of Bursa and guests from countries of the Turkic World who showed strong interest in the colourful performances.

 

The opening ceremony which took place in the  Tofaş Indoor Sports Hall in the presence of more than 700 artists from 13 countries and regions of the Turkic World  gathered the President of the TRNC H. E. Mr. Ersin Tatar, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey  and Term Coordinator of  TURKSOY H. E. Mr. Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, TURKSOY Secretary General H. E. Mr. Dusen Kasseinov, the Representative of the Council of Wisemen of the Organization of Turkic States Mr. Binali Yıldırım, the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Mr. Bagdad Amreyev, the Governor of Bursa  Mr. Yakup Canbolat and the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Bursa Mr. Alinur Aktaş who each delivered an opening speech.

In his opening speech, the President of the TRNC H. E. Mr. Tatar who stressed the fact that Turkic peoples share a common destiny, soul and roots expressed his gratitude to TURKSOY for bringing the Turkic World together  and added: “Bursa is a very important city in terms of the history of  the Turkic World. Our ancestors of Bursa hosted the capital of the Ottoman Empire and stood out as heroes of Turkish history with their noble resistence against the ennemy. As a city of trade, industry, tourism and culture, Bursa is a beautiful city. Hence, it righteously deserves the title of Cultural Capital of the Turkic World which it has been  given by the Permanent Council of TURKSOY. This decision will hopefully bring about the organization of  many wonderful events in Bursa."

The Representative of the Council of Wisemen of the Organization of Turkic States Mr. Binali Yıldırım who also took the floor and delivered an opening speech said: "The Turkic World is growing further. We will be united and strong. Together we will be the Turkic World. We are witnessing some bothersome events in our region nowadays and this shows us once again that we must be stand the more strong and united. We must stand together in solidarity with eachother. We must preserve our brotherhood like the apple of our eye. I do believe that we will soon see the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus among Turkic states."

In his speech, the  Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey  and Term Coordinator of  TURKSOY H. E. Mr. Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said "I believe that it is important to claim ownership of our common values. With its rich cultural heritage, Bursa is a city with a privildeged position. Indeed, it has unique items of cultural heritage which are extremely previous. We will further support Bursa. I would like to express my gratitude to all artists for their wonderful show tonight. The world is going through troublesome times nowadays. Hence, I think that joint activities we carry out in these difficult times are even more so  meaningful and important."

The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Mr. Bagdad Amreyev who said that such events bring about major achievements further added: "Culture is our most important field of activity. Indeed,  TURKSOY which brings us together on the basis of culture and cultural activities was the first international organization of the Turkic World. Culture is our common identity" . The Secretary General of TURKSOY, Ambassador Kasseinov who also delivered a speech at the opening of the event said that whatever may happen, Turkic peoples must always  claim ownership of  the common history and cultural values which hold them together and that therefore, they also must  honour ahd preserve their national feasts and traditions so as to remain united in solidarity with eachother. Secretary General Kasseinov further said: “As you know, Nevruz celebrations of TURKSOY are strongly appreciated and looked forward to every year. Besides this tradition of ours, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World which we declare every year  is another major project which brings about cultural and artistic revival and dynamism to the cities which are declared as such every year. Hence, it is a great happiness for me to witness both Nevruz celebrations and the opening of the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2022 in a city like Bursa which holds an important position in Turkish history."

 

The Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Bursa  Mr.  Alinur Aktaş who also delivered an opening speech said: "Today is a very important day for Bursa which is a city with a rich cultural heritage and long-dating history. As you all know, the city of Bursa was declared Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2022 at the 38th Term Meeting of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) which carries out activities to transmit Turkic culture, language, history, art, traditions and customs to future generations. Hence, I would like to express my gratitude to all those who deemed our city which was once the capital of the Ottoman Empire worthy of this title. There is much more to Bursa than what one can read or hear about it. One must come to Bursa to know it."

Following the opening speeches, the Secretary General of  TURKSOY Ambassador  Kasseinov handed ove the title of "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World" to the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Bursa Mr. Alinur Aktaş.

The opening speeches were followed by a wonderful show featuring  artists from the Turkic World and Balkan countries  who enchanted the audience with their colourful performances  leaving undelible traces in their memories.

The event which was one of the most colourful ones recently held in Bursa introduced the colours, folklore, traditional garments and music of the Turkic World. The show which also featured animals such as horses and camels apart from colourful ensembles of artists raised great enthusiasm among the audience and received its standing ovations.

The event whch also featured special performances about Bursa  introduced the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2022  with thematic performances such as "The Ottoman Period and its Emperors",  "Cermic Tiles of Iznik , UNESCO and the Art of  Bursa ", "Bursa, a City of the Silk Road, Center of  Caravanserais", "Bursa and Migration", "Illustrious Personalities of Bursa" and "Bursa and its Shadow Puppetry "Karagöz Hacivat"" .

The part of the event dedicated to the spring celebration "Nevruz" featured performances such as "Winter Scene and  Umay", "The Awakening of Nature, The War between Good and Evil, The Sun and Moon, Day and Night", "Migrant Birds as the Miracle of Spring", "The Arrival of Spring, New Life, New Day", "The Semenı Tray of Nevruz", "Silkworms, Silk Chrysalids, Butterflies and Flowers", "Welcome to Bursa  Nevruz", "The oy of Spring, Happiness, Celebration, Joy, Peace" and "Nevruz Song".

The audience strongly appreciated the show and gave standing ovations to the performing artists.
