Photography exhibition of TURKSOY dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the Independence of Turkic republics in Istanbul
The photography exhibition dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the Independence of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan which has been held in various cities in Turkey and worldwide since the beginning of the year took place in Istanbul where it was organized in cooperation of TURKSOY with the Turkish Cultural Center of Istanbul.
The exhibition which lasted two days and took place at the Fatih Cultural Center of the Municipality of Fatih in Istanbul on December 20th-21st, 2021 gave an insight into the nature, history, architecture, culture and art of 5 Turkic states. The Director of the Turkish Cultural Center of Istanbul Prof. Dr. Cezmi Bayram who delivered a speech at the opening of the exhibition stressed the importance of the unity of the Turkic World and expressed his happiness to be organizing this event.
Prof. Dr. Cezmi Bayram who also touched upon challenges faced by Turkic states in the years following their declaration of independence as well as upon achievements they reached further said: “Of course, these states did not only gain their independence in these 30 years, they also set their borders and defended them, they built their systems. However, last year, Azerbaijan which is one of these countries has liberated a large part of its territory from its occupation which lasted 30 years and this has been a great step towards the great future of Turkic history.”
The Representative of Kazakhstan to TURKSOY Mr. Bakıtjan Omarov who also delivered a speech on behalf of TURKSOY expressed that it is a pleasure for TURKSOY to be holding this event hosted by the Turkish Cultural Center of Istanbul as one of the many events it has been organizing since the beginning of the year to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the independence of Turkic republics and said: “With this event, our organization will have once again shared the joy and enthusiasm of the celebration of the independence of our member countries with you. Hence, we hereby express our gratitude to all institutions, organizations, local governments, universities and civil society organizations for having strengthened activities carried out by TURKSOY with their valuable support.”
Mr. Omarov who also thanked the Director of the Turkish Cultural Center of Istanbul Prof. Dr. Cezmi Bayram for his valuable support regarding the organization of this event handed over a plate of TURKSOY to him as a remembrance of the day and expressed his gratitude to the ministries of culture, embassies and photographers of five countries celebrating the 30th anniversary of their independence for their contribution.
Alongside the event, a “Symposium dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the Independence of Turkic Republics” was held in the Meeting Hall pf the Fatih Cultural Center.
The symposium took place in the presence of the Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Ömer Kocaman. Scholars from Turkic republics who took the floor at the symposium made their statements regarding the political and social structure of 5 independent Turkic states and their future as well as on their joint education strategies and cultural heritage activities, their relations with Turkey, globalization and the Turkic World.
