The book entitled Fârâbî's Kitâbu'l Mûsika'l Kebîr published by TURKSOY was presented at the Nation's Library of the Republic of Turkey

The book published in Turkish language by TURKSOY on the occasion of the 1150th anniversary of the birthday of Farabi, the great scholar, teacher and wiseman of the Turkic World was presented in an event held at the Nation’s Library of the Republic of Turkey.

The spokesman of the President of the Republic of Turkey  Mr. Ibrahim Kalın who delivered a speech at the event said that Farabi was a great scholar whose multidsciplinary works are rooted in Islamic civilization.

Mr. Kalın further said Farabi’s philosophy is above all based on the idea that  just as existence is a whole, anything which attempts to explain or reflect existence must be a whole."

Mr. Kalın who also mentioned that the famous philosopher is known as the second teacher of humanity after Aristoteles  due to his contribution to the science of logics added that Farabi has made great contributions to political science as well with his work entitled "El-Medînetü'l-Fazıla".

Mr. Kalın who stressed that further research  must be made to understand the scientific and cultural context in which Farabi lived  added that: "If we want to speak about the revival of Islamic civilization today, we must be aware that this cannot be achieved only through individual genius and intelligence. Indeed, the only way to achieve this is to restore the science of  culture.

Mr. Kalın also added that mistakes were made when analyzing various periods of the political history of the Ottoman period  and that this  had a negative impact on the explanation of the Turkish and Ottoman history of sociology, politics, the military and Islam.

Mr. Kalın who said that these mistaken classification of periods was made from the perspective of historians whose thinking was centered on the  European point of view, reminded of the archeological sites of “Göbeklitepe” and “Boncuklu Tarla” and stressed that "As people living in this part of the world, we must look at history from a different perspective."

Mr, who tanked TURKSOY as well as all those who contributed to the publication of this work said: “We will hopefully take the steps to resuscitate and revive this tradition while preserving his works. Indeed, our understanding of tradition and its preservation is not to just look at it and admire it. Our understanding of tradition and its preservation should be to revive it while also awakening with it ourselves.”

TURKSOY Secretary General Kasseinov who also said a few words stressed that Farabi is one of illustrious personalities of the Turkic World who enlightened humanity with his wisdom and knowledge further said:  "Our organization is working in close cooperation with universities which are committed to the transmission of Farabi’s understanding of culture and civilization to the world through modern science. Within this framework, we have  published the first volume of this work in Turkish language with the precious support of the Eurasian Center of Research and Applied Science on Farabi of the Istanbul University."

Secretary General Kasseinov further stressed that this work by Farabi, “the second teacher of humanity”  translated into Turkish,  is of unique importance as this illustrious personality of the Turkic World has made major contributions to various fields of science such as logics, mathematics, metaphysics, astronomy as well as to music.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Ankara, H. E. Abzal Saparbekuly who also took the floor said that the ancient Turan region which is an essential part of world civilization is a bridge linking Asia to Europe not only in geographical bu also in spritual and cultural terms.

Ambassador Saparbekuly who stressed that Farabi is not only one of the rare geniuses of humanity and greatest philosophers of the Turkic Islamic World, but also an iconic figure of the Turkic World and founder of Islamic philosophy further added:  “This Turkic wiseman who is considered as the founder of philosophical thinking in the Turkic Islamic world, has written precious works dealing with many different subjects ranging from theology and logics to moral philosophy, political science, physics, metaphysics, astronomy, psychology and musi, thus trying to establish a philosophical throught system of his own.”

Ambassador Saparbekul also underlined that the Kitâbü’l-Mûsîḳa’l-Kebîr written by  Fârâbi is one of his most important works which is literally considered as a cornerstone reference by all those working in the field of music.

The opening speeches were followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony ın which all participants untied the ribbon together.

The event gathered the Ambassador of Bosnia Herzergovina to Ankara H. E.  Adis Alagiç and the Ambassador of Afghanistan to  Ankara H. E.  Amir Muhammed Ramin along with representatives of diplomatic missions in  Ankara, scholars, artists and authors as well as many guests.

While UNESCO added Farabi to its list of commemorative years for 2020-2021 on the occasion of the 1150th anniversary of his birthday, TURKSOY, the common roof of Turkic peoples’ culture and art  had carried out various events dedicated to Farabi throughout the world.
