A park was named after TURKSOY in Hatay

A park and promenade named after TURKSOY in the district of Erzin in Hatay  were inaugurated with a magnificent ceremony.

The ceremony took place in the presence of TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasseinov, the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Hatay Assoc. Prof.  Dr. Lütfü Savaş, the District Governor of Erzin Osman Demir, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ankara H. E.  Hazar Ibrahim, the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Ankara Kubanychbek Omuraliyev, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Ankara  H. E.  Alisher Agzamhodjayev, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Ankara H. E.  Ishankuli Amanlyev and the Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Ankara  Ashat Davutov along with citizens. At the ceremony where each of the flags of Turkic republics were raised one by one, tha national anthems of the latter were played.

At the opening of the event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the independence of Turkic republics which took place in the presence of a large audience participants stressed the unity of language and ideas as well as the importance of mutual cooperation in the Turkic World.

In the speech he delivered at the opening ceremony  TURKSOY Secretary General Kasseinov said: “Such a beautiful place in Hatay being named after our organization in Hatay is the most solid proof of our brotherhood. We are proud of the fact that such a beautiful park is now named after TURKSOY with reliefs of illustrious authors of the Turkic World such as Nizami Ganjavi, Muhtar Avezov, Chingis Aitmatov, Ali Shir Nevai, Yunus Emre and Magtumguly Pyragy. Activities carried out by Lütfü Savaş until today as well as steps he has taken regarding the organization of the EXPO in Hatay are also a great source of pride for us. Let me therefore express my sincere gratitude to you for on behalf of the Turkic World”.

The Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Hatay Assoc. Prof.  Dr. Lütfü Savaş  who also delivered a speech at the opening event said: “Today is a major day not only for Hatay, our city but also for the Turkic World. Indeed, we are inaugurating our park which features reliefs of authors and philosophers of the Turkic World who bring us together. We strongly appreciate and value this moment as we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the independence of Turkic republics as kindred peoples. It is of utmost importance that we watch the world together as free republics with all flags of the Turkic World.”

The Mayor  Savaş who also said that Turkic history was written with golden letters added that: “Karabakh has regained its frredom thanks to the power of the Turkic people. We can now proudly stand as self-confident individuals wherever we go in the world by adopting Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s maxim ‘Peace at Home, Peace in the World and Gaspyraly Ismail’s words ‘Unity in Language, actions and ideas’. We must ensure this unity. Hence, this place here is more tha  just a park. From now on, we must stand eve closer together face to face, heart to heart.”

In the speech she delivered at the opening ceremony, the MP of the CHP party from Hatay Suzan Şahin expressed her gratitude to TURKSOY for activities it carries out and said that TURKSOY is the UNESCO of Turkic states. Mrs. Şahin stressed that TURKSOY is a precious organization which exists and carries out activities to promote the Turkic World and its unitedness and strength in culture and art on a global scale.

The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ankara  H. E.  Hazar Ibrahim said that whenever in Hatay he feels at home rather than as a guest and stressed that such activities carried out in joint cooperation of kindred countries are contributing to the further strengthening of the basis of our unity and brotherhood. Ambassador Ibrahim further said that it is a great source of pride and honour to also see in this park  the relief of Nizami Ganjavi whose 880th birthday anniversary is being commemorated this year.

The Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic H. E.  Kubanychbek Omuraliyev who expressed his appreciation as to the warm welcome and hospitality  he experienced in Hatay said that such joint activities and intitiatives will contribute to the mutual cooperation among countries.

In the speech he delivered, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Agzamhodjayev expressed his gratefulness to the people of  Hatay and thanked everyone who contributed to the creation of this park. Ambassador Agzamhodjayev also stressed that  there are many citizens of Uzbek descent who live in this region and preserve their own culture and traditions.

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan H. E. Ishankuli Amanlyev said:  “It is a great pleasure for me to be here in Hatay which is a city where tens of civilizations have existed. We attach great importance to the opening of the Park of TURKSOY here. The opening of this park stands as a testimony of the brotherhood among Turkic speaking countries”  and also underlined the importance of unity, solidarity and brotherhood, as his homologues did.

The opening speeches were followed by a parade of the Janissary Band  of the Metropolitan Municipality of Hatay which livened up the event with various marches and anthems. The show which raised great enthusiasm among the audience which gathered in and around the park was very appreciated and received  strong applause from everyone.

The Nowruz, the common celebration of the Turkic World  was also  praised at the event with iron forging and jumping over a bonfire which are part of this tradition celebrated as the beginning of the new year and  the arrival of spring by Turkic peoples.

On this day which had an important meaning for the Turkic World in symbolic terms, olive tree saplings were planted as a remembrance of the day. The Mayor Savaş expressed his wish as to the longevity of the ties of brotherhood, cooperation and unity among countries of the Turkic World  and gave the saplings their first water.

The Park named after TURKSOY which will contribute to the unity of ideas and actions in the Turkic World will also offer various leasure facilities to the people of Hatay such as a prairie, walking and running trails, picknick spots and playgrounds for children. The entrance of the park features reliefs of famous authors of the Turkic World such as Nizami Ganjavi, Muhtar Avezov, Chingis Aitmatov, Ali Shir Nevai, Yunus Emre and Magtumguly Pyragy.
