The tour of the Youth Chamber Choir of TURKSOY has begun

The concert held  with the support and in cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey  with the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in  Sofia, the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey  in Plovdiv and the Yunus Emre Institute gathered a large audience in the Antique Roman Stadium. 

The colourful event which was held  in a historical place gathered  the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Sofia H. E.  Dr. Hasan Ulusoy, the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Plovdiv Hüseyin Ergani, the Chairperson of the Municipal Council  of Plovdiv Savina Petkova, the Deputy Mayor of Plovdiv Georgi Titukov, the Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan  Mitko Solakov and the Director General of the Agency of the European Capital of Culture 2019  Kiril Velchev along with  many guests

TURKSOY Secretary General  Dusen Kasseinov: ''We have been building bridges of friendship since 1993.''

In his opening address,  TURKSOY Secretary General  Dusen Kasseinov said that TURKSOY contributes to the rapprochement of peoples with its cultural and artistic activities worldwide.

Secretary General Kasseinov further said: ''We are very happy to give the first concert of our tour to the Balkans and Europe in Plovdiv, the European Capital of Culture 2019  this year. Since its establishment, TURKSOY has been building bridges of friendship using the universal language of culture and art and bringing our peoples closer together. Of course, without your support, we would not be able to carry out our activities. Let me therefore extend my gratitude to all our partners for their devotion to art, culture, friendship and sharing. On this occasion, let me also congratulate the Yunus Emre Institute on the 10th anniversary of its establishment.''

Tribute to Aşık Veysel

In line with its commitment to the commemoration of illustrious personalities of the Turkic World and transmission of their legacy to future generations TURKSOY which declared the year 2019 as Year of Aşık Veysel dedicated the event to the 125th anniversary of his birthday with some of his songs which were performed in the concert. 

The concert which started with famous songs by the illustrious minstrel Aşık Veysel  ''Kara Toprak'' and ''Uzun Ince Bir Yoldayım'' went on with various works by composers of TURKSOY member countries  as well as world classics. At the end of the concert, amateurs of art in Plovdiv gave standing ovations to young artists of the  the Youth Chamber Choir of TURKSOY.

The Youth Chamber Choir of TURKSOY

The Youth Chamber Choir of TURKSOY composed of talented young musicians selected from the best conservatories of the Turkic World  carries out activities to contribute to the exchange of repertoires, conductors and musicians among choirs of the Turkic World. As such it has been a great source of pride fort he Turkic World with its brilliant performances and various awards it has won since its establishment.

Indeed, the   Youth Chamber Choir of TURKSOY which was established in 2015 won three gold medals in three different categories at the World Choir Games held in Germany. This year, the choir takes the scene with 35 young talents from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Tatarstan (RF).

The choir is conducted by its choirmasters Mrs. Gulmira Kuttybadamova, Choirmaster of the Philharmonic Choir of Kazakhstan and Mrs. Elnara Kerimova, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan who is also the choirmaster of the Polyphonic Choir of the Turkish Radio and Television TRT in Turkey.
