Traditional Horesrace of TURKSOY

The traditional horserace of TURKSOY was held at the Hippodrome of Ankara on  July 16th, 2019.

The Horserace of TURKSOY which was held for the third time this year gathered  TURKSOY Secretary General  Dusen Kasseinov, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yavuz Selim Kıran and representatives of TURKSOY member countries along with journalists and many guests.


Prior to the horserace, the Youth Chamber Choir of TURKSOY established in 2015 and composed of 35 young artists selected from best conservatories of the Turkic World gave a short concert with singers from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, Turkey and  Tatarstan. During the short performance of talented young singers of the Turkic World, protocol members also had the opportunity to visit the photography exhibition featuring photos from TURKSOY's activities as well as of horseraces held inn various countries.  

The horserace itself featured British 7 purebred mares aged 3 years and older which ran a distance of 1400 meters on a grass track. The winner of the race which lasted 1 minute and 23 seconds was  the mare named Irem Su, ridden by the jockey Ozcan Yıldırım and owned by Müthiş Ölçer.  While Gipsy danger and her jockey Akın Sözen came second at the race,  Miss Eleni and her jockey Ahmet Çelik came third.


The race was followed by a ceremony in which the Cup of TURKSOY  was handed over to the lawyer Osman Buldanon on behalf of the horse's owner  Müthiş Ölçer  by  the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yavuz Selim Kıran.
