Fourth Composers' Gathering of TURKSOY dedicated to Aşık Veysel
The Fourth Gathering of Composers of TURKSOY organized by the International Organization of Turkic Culture in Bolu has begun on February 6th, 2019.
The opening ceremony of the gathering took place in the presence of TURKSOY Secretary General , Ambassador Dusen Kasseinov, the Mayor of Bolu Alaaddin Yılmaz, the District Governor of Seben Muhammed Fatih Günlü, the Mayor of Seben Süleyman Özbağ, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Akhmet Yassawi University Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız, TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Prof. Dr. Fırat Purtaş, Dr. Oğuzhan Aydın from the Yıldırım Beyazıt University of Ankara, the Chairman of the Union of Composers of Kazakhstan Balnur Qydyrbek, the composers Svetlana Stepurina, Beibit Daldenbay, Yermek Umirov, Bakhtiyar Amanzhol, Lyazzat Zhumanova and Sauken Alish from Kazakhstan, Turgay Erdener from Turkey and Ivan Chelak from Gagauzia (Moldova) along with journalists and citizens of Seben.
In the speech he delivered at the opening ceremony of the gathering, TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasseinov stressed the importance of the worldwide promotion of the rch cultural heritage of Turkic peoples.
Ambassador Kasseinov who also said that TURKSOY is carrying out widescope activities in Europe, Asia and America added: "The Cultural Capital of the Turkic World, the Youth Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Choir and Orchestra of Traditional Instruments of TURKSOY are all innovative projects launched by TURKSOY”.
Mr. Kasseinov who added that the Composers’ Gathering is another such Project of TURKSOY further said: "This project was launched in Safranbolu and it has been carried out every year since 2017 in the Art Village of TURKSOY which is located in the district of Seben in Bolu. This year, we are organizing the 4th Gathering of Composers of the Turkic World in our Art Village in the Carved Rock Houses of Solaklar named after composers of the Turkic World."
Mr. Kasseinov who stressed that until now this Project carried out in cooperation with the municipalities of Bolu and Seben has gathered the best composers of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and autonomous republics of the Russian Federation further said:
"This year, composers from Kazakhstan who have come together in Seben will contribute to the enrichment of the Turkic World with compositions they will write here in Seben, a place where history meets art. We are extremely grateful to the municipality of Seben for its contribution to Turkic culture and art. Works which will be composed during this gathering will be dedicated to Aşık Veysel, the famous Turkish minstrel this year. Today’s event will be an opportunity of artistic dialogue and cooperation for composers, minstrels and poets from Kazakhstan, Turkey and Gagauzia."
The Mayor of Bolu Alaaddin Yılmaz said that the two most important traditions contributing to the gathering of the Turkic World in Bolu are Koroghlu and Nevruz celebrations and added that while the only Mount Nevruz of the Turkic World is located in Seben, the city of Bolu also features a park built in cooperation of TURKSOY with Bolu and named after Koroghlu, just as the statue which can be seen in it. Mr. Yılmaz expressed his wish as to the continuation of the fruitful cooperation between the Turkic World and Bolu through such cultural activities.
The Mayor of Seben Süleyman Özbağ who also took the floor at the event reminded of the fact that the first Gathering of Composers of the Turkic World was held in Safranbolu and that it is being carried out fort he third time now in Seben. Mr. Özbağ further said the art village built in cooperation of TURKSOY with the municipalities of Bolu and Seben gathers composers of the Turkic World every year and contributes to the enrichment of the music of the Turkic World. Mr. Özbağ who further reminded of the fact that this year’s gathering of composers is dedicated to Aşık Veysel further said: "The first Composers’ Gathering of the Turkic World was held in Safranbolu. This gathering used to be held in the spring season, this year we are holding it in February. I hope that this year’s Gatherinf of Composers of the Turkic World dedicated to Aşık Veysel will bring about fruitful results."
The Chairman of the Union of Composers of Kazakhstan Balnur Kyrdyrbeke who also said a few words at the event expressed her happiness to be in Bolu and said: "As representatives of the Kazak civilization we are very happy to have come together again." Mrs. Kyrdyrbeke further said that thanks to the auspices of TURKSOY, composers from different regions of the Turkic World come together in Seben and jointly work on new compositions to contribute to the enrichment of the common music heritage of the Turkic World.
The District Governor of Seben Muhammed Fatih Günlü who also took the floor at the ceremony stressed that Seben is hosting a major cultural event which makes it possible for kindred composers to exchange views and give an insight into compositions bearing characteristics of their respective cultures. Mr. Günlü further expressed his gratitude to all those who contribute to this gathering and its organization.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Akhmet Yassawi University Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız said that he has been followin up this kind of activities carried out by TURKSOY for many years and that the Akhmet Yassawi University has ever since been willing to participte in this gathering which will certainly contribute to the strengthening of ties of brotherhood in the Turkic World.
Dr. Oğuzhan Aydın from the Yıldırım Beyazıt University of Ankara who also delivered a speech touched upon the life and work of the famous minstrel of Anatolia Aşık Veysel.
The opening speeches were followed by performances of Ismail Nar, the living legend of the Turkish tradition of minstrelship, as well as of minstrels Selahattin Dündar, Aşık Temeli, Kamber Nar, Kenan Şahbudak and Haşimi Aslıhak who sang songs by Aşık Veysel.
The event carried out in cooperation of TURKSOY with the Municipalities of Bolu and Seben within the framework of the Year of Aşık Veysel declared by TURKSOY will make it possible for famous composers of the Turkic World to create new compositions in the Art Village of TURKSOY where they will work in wooden houses named after illustrious composers during 10 days.
Works to be written by composers from Kazakhstan during the 4th Composers’ Gathering of TURKSOY will be dedicated to the 125th Anniversary of the Birthday of Aşık Veysel which is being commemorated by TURKSOY this year.
