Presentation of a book by Kojogeldi Kuluyev in Ankara
The book by the People's Poet of Kyrgyzstan Kojogeldi Kuluyev "Köklerden Kanatlara Kadar" (From Roots to Wings) was presented in an event held in Ankara.
The event held on January 18th, 2019 in the Kabakçı Mansion located in the historical district of Hamamönü in Ankara gathered TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Prof. Dr. Fırat Purtaş, the Chairman of the Eurasian Authors' Union Dr. Yakup Ömeroğlu, the Deputy Chairman of the Eurasian Authors' Union and poet Ali Akbaş, the Director of the Bursa Branch of Turkish Cultural Centers Prof. Dr. Selçuk Kırlı and the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Ankara Aybek Akayev along with many poets, authors, amateurs of art and students.
Dr. Yakup Ömeroğlu who moderated the event said that the People's Poet of Kyrgyzstan Mr. Kuluyev is one of the Kyrgyz poets who distinguishes himself through his patriotic views and artistic consciousness as well as his struggle to change literature policies dating back to the Soviet Era. Dr. Ömeroğlu also stressed the fact that Mr. Kuluyev is one of the Kyrgyz poets who writes the highest number of poems about Turkey and said that this book deserves an award as the translations of poems it contains are particularly faithful to the original texts in terms of metric patterns and rhymes.
Prof. Dr. Fırat Purtaş who also delivered a speech said that Mr. Kuluyev is an important poet who strongly contributes to the promotion of Turkey in Kyrgyzstan and introduces its legendary poets such as Karacaoğlan and Nazım Hikmet amongst others to the Kyrgyz people. Mr. Purtaş who also stressed that Mr. Kuluyev's poems cover a wide range of subjects added: “This book also features poems on the battle of Çanakkale as well as poems inspired by the people of Turkey and its heroic act to save the country on July 15th. I believe such poems play a key role in the promotion of Turkey as well as in the strengthening of ties among peoples of the Turkic World".
Mr. Purtaş further said that Mr. Kuluyev is also the author of an innovative project entitled "Five Poets" and added that this project which gathers poets of 5 age groups (aged 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60) should also be carried out in other countries of the Turkic World. Mr. Purtaş concluded his speech saying that Mr. Kultegin also strongly contributes to the promotion of TURKSOY in Kyrgyzstan.
Mr. Kojogeldi Kuluyev said that poets always benefit from living in different places from time to time. Mr. Kuluyev who further said that he was born in the Southern part of Kyrgyzstan and lived in various countries and regions later on before coming to Turkey where he has been living since 2014. Mr. Kuluyev said: “Turkey is a country which inspired many poets such as Karacaoğlan, Karakoç, Necip Fazıl and Nazım Hikmet. As such it still inspires Ali Akbaş as well and it is also a strong source of inspiration for me. The book "From Roots to Wings" is the ninth book I have written. 95% of this book was written in Ankara and 37 of all poems published in this book are about Turkey.
Mr. Selçuk Kırlı, the Director of the Bursa Branch of Turkish Cultural Centers which contributed to the promotion of the book said: “To understand eachother, Turkic peoples living in various places of the world have to use a common language. In this respect, this book plays an important role as to their mutual rapprochement as well as the rapprochement of their respective languages because it features comparative translations in various Turkic dialects. Let me therefore extend my gratitude to Mr. Kuluyev for this precious work".
The event featured contributions of the former Director General from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey Prof. Dr. Nail Tan, Prof. Dr. Naciye Yıldız from the Hacı Bayram Veli University of Ankara , Dr Oğuzhan Aydın from the Yıldırım Beyazıt University of Ankara, the Secretary General of the Union of Engineers and Architects of the Turkic World Dr. Ilyas Demirci, the poet Ali Akbaş, the Chairman of the World Academy of Words (Dünya Söz Akademisi) Prof. Dr. Hayrettin Ivgin, the Representative of Kazakhstan to TURKSOY Assoc. Prof. Dr. Askar Turganbayev, the author Osman Çeviksoy, Prof. Dr. Gülzira Cumakunova from the Ankara University, the poets Kenan Çarboğa Dr. Kalmamat Kulamshayev who translated the book, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cemile Kınacı from the Ankara Hacı Bayramı Veli University, the Chairman of the World Association of Authors and Intellectuals Dr. Osman Baş and the poet Cavit Mövsümlü who shared their views on Mr. Kuluyev's life and work as a poet.
The event in which participants recited poems by Kojogeldi Kuluyev also featured a short concert with Kyrgyz songs performed by the singer Gulira Kasymkulova.
