Traditional Sports' Festival in Bursa, Kocayayla

The Third Festival of Traditional Sports held in order to introduce traditional Turkic sports to future generations and strengthen ties of friendshjip among Turkic peoples took place between July 19th-21st, 2018  in  the province of Keleş Kocayayla in  Bursa and  featured many special events and colourful shows.

The festival hosted by the Mayor of the  Metropolitan Municipality of Bursa Mr.  Alinur AKTAŞ took place with the contrinbution of artists and sportsmen from  Azerbaijan,  Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan along with students from Eastern Turkistan and featured many coulourful sports' performances and games such as javelin, rahvan, horse-riding, wrestling and  kokboru.

The festival which revived traditional sports of the Turkic World dating back to 5000 years gathered representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, the Eurasian Federation of Turkic Associations, the Association of Kazak Turks for Education and Research, the Association of Cultural and Social Solidarity of the People of  Turkistan, the Association of Culture and Solidarity of Crimean Turks, the Association of Nogay Turks of Istanbul, the Van Ercish Ulupamir Village,the Embassy of Azerbaijan, TURKSOY, TIKA, Dağder, the Yuruk and Turkmen Union of the Turkic World in Turkey along with the Associatio of the Revival of Turkic Language and  the Rumeli Federation.

The colourful festival gathering nearly 15 thousand visitors took place in an extremely joyful atmosphere thanks to the contribution of culture and sports' associations which introduced authentic examples of  their local, traditional culture.

TURKSOY contributed to the festival with its photography exhibition featuring photos of Turkistan, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2017 as well as photos of traditional sports practised in TURKSOY member countries.
