Colourful contribution of TURKSOY to the International Silkroad Festival of Sheki

The International Silkroad Festival of Sheki ended with a wonderful concert dedicated to the 25th anniversary of TURKSOY. The concert featuring colourful performances of artists from the Turkic World was highly appreciated by the audience.

 

The closing event of the 9th International Silkroad Festival held in Sheki, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2016 and nature’s wonder of Azerbaijan took place with the contribution  of Hikmet Kasımov and Kemale Nebiyeva from Azerbaijan, Perizat Kairbayeva  from Kazakhstan, Aynur Berdikulova from Kyrgyzstan, Cigdem Gurdal from Turkey, Alisher Otajanov fromm Uzbekistan, Azat Bikchurin from Bashkortostan (RF) and Salchak Borbak-ool from Tyva (RF)  accompanied by the  State Song and Dance Orchestra of Azerbaijan and the "Murager" State Philharmonic Orchestra of Atyrau from Kazakhstan under Agaverdi Pashayev, Ilahe Huseynova and Artur Otojanov as conductors. The concert in which artists introduced colourful songs and dances of Turkic peoples to the audience ended with a final performance which received standing ovations from the spectators. Artists who took the scene at the concert dedicated to the 25th anniversary of TURKSOY performed traditional melodies and dances of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Bashkortostan (RF) and Tyva (RF).

 

The concert held in the Open Air Theater of the  Marhal Complex in Sheki was attended by more than 2500 spectators who accompanied the performing artists and clapped to the rhythm of popular songs of the Turkic World with great enthusiasm. The highlight of the concert which left undelible traces in the memories of the audience at the 9th International Silkroad Festival was the famous folk song “Sarı Gelin” which was performed all together by artists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkey.

 

At the end of the concert, TURKSOY Secretary General  Dusen Kasseinov went on stage to congratulate the artists and said that this festival which is a strong contribution to the cultural integration of Turkic peoples enjoys growing popularity every year thanks to the diversity of its participants and exquisite concerts. Mr. Kasseinov further said that various events are being held in TURKSOY member countries and elsewhere to celebrate the 25th anniversary of  TURKSOY  and to commemorate the Azerbaijani composer Gara Garayev whom the year 2018 has been dedicated to by TURKSOY. Mr. Kasseinov who expressed his happiness to attend the festival  also invited spectators to the 10th International Silkroad Festival of Sheki which will take place next year. Following his closing speech, Mr. Kasseinov extended the plate of TURKSOY dedicated to the 25th anniversary of its establishment  to the Chairman of the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan Prof. Dr. Firangiz Alizade and to the Governor of  Sheki Elhan Usubov.

 

In the speech she delivered at the event, the Chairman of the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan Prof. Dr. Firangiz Alizade extended her gratitude to TURKSOY for its support regarding the participation of artists from the Turkic World to the festival. Prof. Dr. Alizade extended her gratitude to TURKSOY Secretary General, Ambassador Dusen Kasseinov for the importance he attaches to the festival and handed over the Honour Medal of Uzeyir Hajibeyli to him in recognition of his  valuable contribution to the festival and longstanding cooperation with the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan.

 

The certificate of the medal stressed that "Dusen Kasseinov's personal participation in the festival raises the prestige of the event with performances of  exquisite music ensembles and soloists from Turkic speaking countries, and strongly  contributes to the development of dialogue and friendship among peoples. The wonderful performances of soloists from TURKSOY member countries  and the fashion shows featuring traditional garments of Turkic peopleshave left undelible traces in the memories of the spectators. With the Youth Chamber Orchestra, Youth Chamber Choir and Orchestra of Folk Instruments he has established, Mr. Kasseinov also successfully contributes to the worldwide promotion of  the music and culture of the Turkic World".

 

The Governor of Sheki Elhan Usubov who also said a few words at the event stressed that as an essential participant of the Silkroad Festival of Sheki,  TURKSOY also strongly contributes to the worldwide promotion of this festival. Mr. Usubov ended his speech saying that Mr. Kasseinov therefore fully deserves the title of Honourary Citizen of Sheki and extended the symbol of the festival along with a plaquette to him as a remembrance of the day.
