Commemoration of the Azerbaijani Composer Gara Garayev in Ankara

A concert was held in Ankara within the framework of the Year of Gara Garayev, 2018 declared by the International Organization ofTurkic Culture  TURKSOY to commemorate the famous Azerbaijani composer on the 100th anniversary of his birthday.

The concert held within the framework of events to commemorate Gara Garayev on the 100th anniversary of his birthday featured performances of unforgettable masterpieces of Garayev by  artists of the State Opera and Ballet of  Ankara: Şenol Talınlı (tenor), Murat Akçay (tar), Özgür İnce, Çise Korkmaz (violin), Hande Uçar (piano), Bekir Dinçer (cello), Yeliz Özkaya (viola) and M. Aykut Köselerli (percussions).

The commemorative event also featured a cinevision on  Gara Garayev's life and work  as an artist. The concert which featured works by Gara Garayev along with other famous works of classical music of  Azerbaijan  was particularly appreciated by the audience.

In the short speech he delivered at the end of the concert  TURKSOY Secretary General  Dusen Kasseinov extended his gratitude to the performing artists and remined of the fact that various events will be held not only in TURKSOY member countries  but also in various other countries of the world to commemorate the Azerbaijani composer  Gara Garayev within the framework of the Year of Gara Garayev, 2018 declared by the International Organization ofTurkic Culture  TURKSOY.

At the end of the concert, Mr. Dusen Kasseinov handed over a souvenir plate of TURKSOY to the Director of the State Opera and Ballet of Ankara  Mr. Çetin Kıranbay and certificates of appreciation to the artists.
