The President of the Kyrgyz Republic Ceenbekov: "We are grateful to TURKSOY for having dedicated the year 2018 to the commemoration of Chingis Aitmatov

The President of the Kyrgyz Republic expressed his gratitude to the Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY, Dusen Kasseinov for having dedicated the year 2018 to the commemoration of the Kyrgyz author Chingis Aitmatov.


Within the framework of his visit to Kyrgyzstan on the occasion of events to celebrate the 25th anniversary of TURKSOY, Secretary General  Dusen Kasseinov met with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Ceenbekov  in his office.


President Ceenbekov who congratulated Kasseinov for his reelection to the post of TURKSOY Secretary General  for the term  2017-2020, expressed his confidence in the fact that  Kasseinov will further contribute to the visibility and importance of  TURKSOY in the international arena and to the strengthening of ties of friendship and brotherhood among Turkic speaking peoples, thus also playing a key role in fostering cultural ties and among them.


Ceenbekov further said: "I congratulate TURKSOY as it celebrates the 25th anniversary of its establishment. You have made great contributions to the promotion of the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Kyrgyz people not only among Turkic speaking poeples but also worldwide. TURKSOY had declared the year 2014 as “Year of Toktogul Satylganov” and the year  2016 as “Year of Yusuf Balasagun” and now it has dedicated the year 2018 to the commemoration of the great author of the Kygyz peopleChingis Aitmatov. Hence, we will do our very best to commemorate Aitmatov with colourful events on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of his birthday. The most important event we will be carrying out within this framework will be the "International Forum" which we will hold in  Issyk Kul.  


In the meeting, TURKSOY Secretary General  Dusen Kasseinov said that the opening of the "Year of Chingis Aitmatov 2018" will be held in April and that Aitmatov will be commemorated with various events in TURKSOY member countries and around the world throughout the year.
