The Kumyk poet Batyrmurzaev was commemorated in the Cultural Capital Kastamonu

Within the framework of its series of conferences on Pioneers of the Turkicv World, TURKSOY held a conference dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birthday of the  Kumyk poet  Zeynalabid Batyrmurzaev in Kastamonu, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2018.

The conference gathered the Governor of Kastamonu  Yaşar Karadeniz, MPs of Kastamonu  Metin Çelik and Murat Demir, the Mayor of Kastamonu Tahsin Babaş, the Rector of the Kastamonu University Prof. Dr. Seyit Aydın, the Deputy Governor of Kastamonu Vedat Yılmaz, the Representative of Kazakhstan to TURKSOY Askar Turganbayev,  the Chief Editor of the Yoldas newspaper published in Kumyk language in the Dagestan Republic subject to the Russian Federation Kamil Aliyev, the poet and Chief Editor of the “Tangçolpan” journal Supyianat Mamayeva, the Director of the Kumyk Theater  Skandarbek Tulparov, the Folk Musician Osman Ibrahimov and the dance ensemble  “Children of the Caucasus” along with many citizens of Kastamonu.

The commemorative event which started with a minute of silence followed by the National Hymn of the Republic of Turkey went on with the conference featuring presentations by the  Chief Editor of the Yoldas newspaper Kamil Aliyev,  the poet and Chief Editor of the “Tangçolpan” journal Supyianat Mamayeva and the Director of the Kumyk State Theater of the Dagestan Republic subject to the Russian Federation   Skandarbek Tulparov.

In the speech he delivered at the conference, the Representative of Kazakhstan to TURKSOY, Askar Turganbayev greeted the audience on behalf of the Secretary General of TURKSOY stressed the importance of the Kumyk poet  Zeynalabid Batyrmurzaiev and his legacy for the Turkic World. The Governor of Kastamonu Yaşar Karadeniz, the Mayor of Kastamonu Tahsin Babaş and the Rector of the Kastamonu University Prof. Dr. Seyit Aydın who also delivered a speech at the conference  stressed the importance of this commemorative event held in Kastamonu, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2018.  Mr. Kamil Aliyev extended his gratitude to the organizers of this commemorative event and extended the "Yırçı Kazak" medal to  Mr. Yaşar Karadeniz, Mr. Tahsin Babaş and Mr. Seyit Aydın for their valuable contribution and support.

The presentations were followed by a reading of poems by the Kumyk poet  Supyanat Mamayeva and a folk music performance by  the artist Osman Ibrahimov who played the "Agackomyz", a traditional Kumyk music instrument and sang Kumyk  folk songs (jyr).  The conference ended with a colourful performance of the Folk Dance Ensemble “Children of the Caucasus"  which was particularly appreciated by the audience.
