Youth Gatherings of TURKSOY : Young Media Professionals came together in Ankara
The “Young Media Professionals Gathering” organised in cooperation of the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) with the Al-Farabi National University of Kazakhstan took place in Ankara between March 17th to 21st, 2026.
The event which was carried out within the framework of Youth Gatherings of TURKSOY served as a significant platform bringing together young professionals of the Turkic World working in the fields of media, communication and cultural diplomacy. At the event, journalism students and scholars from Kazakhstan visited leading media organisations and public institutions in Ankara to conduct on-site inspections.
Visits to Media and Public Institutions
The Kazakh delegation attended meetings and briefings organised at strategic institutions such as the Anadolu Agency (AA), TRT, TRT AVAZ, TIKA and the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities. During the visits, comprehensive information was shared regarding the institutions’ operational procedures, news production processes, international broadcasting activities and cultural diplomacy projects.
The delegation also visited the Secretariat General of TURKSOY, where they received information about activities carried out by the organisation to foster cultural unity within the Turkic World.
Within the framework of the visit, contacts were established with the communication faculties of universities in Ankara. Through the panels and round-table discussions organised, young media professionals had the opportunity to gain a close insight into media education and the academic world in Türkiye.
Following the event, participants published news, interviews and short video content giving a feedback on their visit. This process has not only contributed to the professional development of young media professionals but also has been a valuable step towards the establishment of a common media language within the Turkic World.
This gathering, which strengthened cooperation in the media sector between Turkey and Kazakhstan, laid the groundwork for the establishment of lasting bonds of friendship among the young people. The unity of the youth of the Turkic World around shared cultural values and their awareness of representing these values on the international stage were reinforced.
Young media professionals, who returned to their home countries once the event came to an end in Ankara, stated that this gathering was not merely an educational opportunity for them, but also an unforgettable experience of brotherhood.
