Young Talents of the Turkic World meet in Aktau
From August 14th to 18th, 2025, Aktau, the city of Kazakhstan selected as Cultural Capital of the Turkic World, will host a colourful art festival. Organised in cooperation of TURKSOY with the Regional Administration of Mangıstau, the Municipality of Aktau and the Abay Cultural Centre, the ‘Önerli Ören’ International Children's Arts Festival brings together nearly 500 children from different regions of the Turkic World.
The opening ceremony was held on August 15th at the Abay Culture and Recreation Complex was attended by TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev and the Deputy Mayor of Aktau Jusupov Bekzat Bağbergenuli, who extended their best wishes of success to the participants.
Throughout the festival, young talents from different regions of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Türkiye, Tyva, Crimea, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan will showcase their skills in folk dances, choreography, traditional and modern vocal performances.
In his opening speech, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev emphasised the importance of children expressing themselves through artistic activities and said:
"The Önerli Ören International Children's Art Festival is a meaningful gathering making it possible for talented children to show their skills in the fields of dance, music, song and painting. Children are our future. Enabling them to showcase their talents, receive recognition and encouragement contributes to the consolidation of their identity as they grow up. Experiencing success as a child has a lasting effect on one’s self-consciousness throughout life. I would like to thank all institutions supporting this festival and wish our young participants the best of success."
Throughout the festival, young artists will be competing in four categories:
-Performance with a traditional instrument
-Traditional song singing
-Popular songs
-Choreography
The performance on a traditional instrument and the traditional song singing performance held on the first day of the festival were evaluated by a jury of renowned artists in their fields.
The five-day festival, there will also feature the award ceremony of an international painting competition on traditional children's games along with workshops gathering young artists from different countries, and intercultural exchange events.
The Festival, which brings together young talents from the Turkic World will end with a gala event on August 18th, 2025 during which the winners of each category of performances will be announced.
