Visit of TURKSOY Secretary General to the Fergana State University

Within the framework of his visit to Uzbekistan, Secretary General Raev met with officials of the  Fergana State University which is one of the well-established universities of Uzbekistan.

 

Sultan Raev came together with the Acting Rector Mr. Otabek Mahmudov and received detailed information about the university. During the meeting, Mr. Raev expressed his pleasure to visit the university, which is one of the oldest scientific centers of Uzbekistan and was founded in 1930.

 

Mr. Mahmudov said that the University, which is one of the largest educational institutions in Uzbekistan with more than 35 thousand students, 13 faculties and 47 units, will soon open an archaeology department.

 

Noting that the University’s administration is willing to sign a cooperation agreement with TURKSOY, Mr. Mahmudov said that they are open to cooperation with universities of TURKSOY member countries under the leadership of the Organization. 

 

In his speech, Mr. Raev who also stressed that TURKSOY has established a union of universities in the field of culture and art and has been carrying out various activities in this field added that given its bilateral relations with many universities in its member countries, TURKSOY  which has organized many important events is also willing  to sign an agreement with theFergana State University. 

 

Noting that TURKSOY has important projects related to the Fergana valley within the scope of the Golden Valley Festival and that they will realize these projects with different cities and universities, Raev said that the festival will be hosted by countries and cities respectively and will provide an opportunity to further strengthen the ties of brotherhood and friendship in the region.

 

After the meeting, Secretary General Raev visited the museum built within the university in memory of the Jadidists who were killed by repression because they defended the national identity and opposed the oppression of their people by the Soviet regime. 

 

Mr. Raev, who received detailed information about the exhibitions held in the museum, said that TURKSOY also has important archive material about victims of this repression and organizes conferences on this subject and added that copies of some documents on Jadidists of Uzbek origin will be presented to the museum as a gift.

 

At the end of the visit, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev signed the memorial book of the museum.
