Visit of the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Kayseri to TURKSOY

The Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Kayseri Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç Kayseri   paid a visit to Mr. Sultan Raev, the Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), at his office following the city’s selection as the “Cultural  Capital of the Turkic World 2027”.

Issues discussed in the meeting pertained to preparations to be carried out in the city for 2027 and opportunities for cultural cooperation. Mayor Büyükkılıç who emphasized that with its 7,000-year-old history, five universities, young population, and rich gastronomy, Kayseri  will serve as a significant gathering center for the Turkic World and said: “In line with the philosophy that ‘The World is Greater Than Five’ and the vision of our President, we are preparing for 2027 with a mindset of taking on burdens rather than imposing them.” Noting that they are also supporting the city’s cultural vision through sports, Mayor Büyükkılıç highlighted that Kayseri has become a major center in this field by securing the title of “ACES World Sports Capital of Europe 2029.” During the visit, Büyükkılıç also attended a commemorative ceremony held in honor of the 90th birthday of the renowned Kazakh author Oljas Suleymenov and addressed the participants.

Secretary General Raev: Kayseri is the shining star of the Turkic World

expressing his pleasure to welcome  the  Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Kayseri in his office, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev made the following remarks regarding Kayseri’s potential and the historic role it will assume in 2027:  “With its thousands of years of deep-rooted history, unique cultural heritage, hardworking people, and dynamic structure, Kayseri is one of the shining stars of the Turkic World. We are fully confident that, as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2027, Kayseri will represent the shared values of our ancient civilization at the highest level and successfully host international projects that will further strengthen our bonds of brotherhood."

The working visit ended with an exchange of souvenirs as a remembrance of the day.
