Visit of the Mayor of the district of Türkoğlu in Kahramanmaraş to TURKSOY

Mr. Mehmet Karaca, the Mayor of Kahramanmaraş Türkoğlu and his delegation paid a working visit to TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Sayit Yusuf. In the meeting which focused on the role of local authorities in international cultural diplomacy, Mayor Karaca and Deputy Secretary General Yusuf discussed how to showcase Türkoğlu’s ancient values in the Turkic World.

The meeting where Mayor Karaca provided information on cultural projects and restoration activities carried out in the district  served as a platform for important consultations on how regional development and cultural ties can be intertwined.

Before seeing the delegation off, Deputy Secretary General Yusuf delivered a statement in which he stressed the importance of the meeting  and  emphasised the power of local authorities, saying that: " In fact, these sincere steps taken by our local authorities are the very  cement of our cultural unity. The determination of our mayors to take ownership of the heritage in their own regions and present it as a shared asset of the Turkic World is our greatest source of motivation. Working hand in hand with our districts which preserve their values, such as the Türkoğlu District of Kahramanmaraş, we will keep our brotherhood alive not just in conference halls, but at the very heart of daily life. We are determined to launch activities of cultural diplomacy from Ankara and ensure it is felt in every street of Turkistan."
