Visit of Secretary General Raev to the International Vision University
Within the framework of his visit in North Macedonia, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev came together with administration and academic staff of the International Vision University in Gostivar.
During the meeting Secretary General Raev exchanged views with staff members of the University about ways to develop educational, cultural, and academic cooperation between the Turkic World and the Balkans as well as about student and faculty mobility, joint scientific activities, and cultural projects.
The Rector of the University noted that the cooperation between TURKSOY and the International Vision University has evolved into a strong partnership which goes beyond the signed protocol. Emphasizing the great importance of the support TURKSOY has provided since the establishment of the University, the Rector further stated that quotas were allocated to offer full-scholarship education opportunities to students from the Turkic World who will be referred by TURKSOY.
Noting that the International Vision University is the first and only university in the Balkans to offer education in Turkish, the Rector said that the university has undertaken an important mission to pass on the Turkish language, culture, and identity to future generations. Stating that the University is one of the natural partners of TURKSOY in the Balkans in terms of its goals and activities, the Rectorsiad that the University is ready to support any initiatives TURKSOY undertakes to carry out in the region.
The Rector also expressed the desire to have more students and scholars from countries of the Turkic World at the university and said that TURKSOY’s support is crucial to foster student mobility and integrate the university into the Association of Turkic Universities under the Organization of Turkic States.
Secretary General Sultan Raev noted that the International Vision University has taken on a precious function in the preservation of Turkish language and culture in the Balkans. Stating that he views the university as one of important symbols of the Turkic World and the Turkish presence in the region, Secretary General Raev said that international organizations of the Turkic World should provide further support to this educational institution.
Secretary General Raev also highlighted the importance of further strengthening the cooperation between TURKSOY and the International Vision University through student mobility, academic exchanges, joint scientific conferences, and cultural activities.
Following consultations with academic staff members of the university and a tour of the campus, the visit ended with a group photograph taken as a remembrance of the day.
