Visit of Secretary General Raev to the 39th Traditional Handcrafts’ Festival in Budapest
TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev visited the the 39th Traditional Handcrafts Festival (Mesterségek Ünnepe) held in the Hungarian capital.
During his visit, Secretary General Raev who was accompanied by Péter Hoppál, Government Commissioner and Member of Parliament for the Ministry of Culture and Innovation of Hungary along with the Director of the festival Mrs. Gabriela Igyártó examined works made by craftsmen from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Türkiye, all reflecting the rich cultural heritage of their respective countries.
Being one of Hungary's widest scale cultural events, the festival aims at the promotion of cultural diversity by hosting masters, designers and folk artists from different countries every year. Secretary General Raev also attended the fashion show of the BY ME Fashion brand, which celebrated the 25th anniversary of renowned Hungarian fashion designer Hrivnák Tünde, showcasing its latest collection, ‘BY ME Trust.’
The collection, decorated with Sekel embroidery unique to the village of Arapatak, had not only won admiration the admiration among international audiences in Budapest but also left a lasting impression across a wide geographical area from the United States to the Sekel region of Hungary.
Speech at the ‘Kyrgyz Eleçeği – Heart of the Silk Road’ Event
In the speech he delivered at the special event entitled ‘Kyrgyz Eleçeği – Heart of the Silk Road,’ held the festival, Secretary General Sultan Raev also emphasised that the eleçeği is a symbol of the Kyrgyz people's national identity, cultural heritage and family values.
Mr. Raev who further stated that traditional clothing and symbols are not merely aesthetic elements, but do also represent historical memory, spiritual values and intergenerational bonds also noted that the eleçeği is a powerful symbol reflecting women's life cycle, prayers, and devotion to family, and stressed that such events play a significant role in promoting and preserving the common roots of the Turkic World.
