Visit of a Delegation of the Chingis Aitmatov Institute to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic

Within the framework of the forum on ‘Chingis Aitmatov  and The Future of the Turkic World Forum’ to be held in Bishkek with the support of TURKSOY an international delegation visiting Kyrgyzstan met with Mr. Mirbek Mambetaliev, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth Policies of the Kyrgyz Republic in his office.

The visit held upon initiative of TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, was attended by Prof. Dr. Ilyas Topsakal, the President of the Chingis Aitmatov Institute and MP of Samsun, Prof. Dr. Akmal Saidov, Member of the Uzbek Parliament and the UN Human Rights Committee and Dr. Sakit Mammadov, the People's Artist of Azerbaijan.

During the visit where participants exchanged information on preparations for the forum, which aims at the transmission of the legacy of Chingis Aitmatov to younger generations and the strengthening of the common memory of the Turkic World, the Kyrgyz side expressed its gratitude to the Minister for his precious support. In addition to this, participants also discussed potential international events and joint projects which could carried out  to commemorate Chingis Aitmatov on  the 100th anniversary of his birthday in 2028.

TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev stressed the universality of Aitmatov’s legacy in the field of literature of the Turkic World and highlighted the meaning and importance of the organization of this forum in Bishkek. Secretary General Raev further stated that TURKSOY has always taken the lead in efforts to keep Aitmatov's legacy alive and pas it  on to future generations.

Minister Mambetaliev expressed his appreciation as to the loyalty regarding the great author of the Turkic World and praised initiatives undertaken by  the Chingis Aitmatov Institute as well as the cultural cooperation of TURKSOY.

The symbolic significance of the Forum coinciding with the anniversary of Aytmatov's passing was also discussed during the meeting. In this context, participants stressed that both, the commemorative ceremonies to be held at the Atabeyit Memorial Cemetery as well as at the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic hold a special significance in terms of the preservation of the intellectual legacy left behind by the great author.
