TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev met with a delegation from Andijan

Mr. Sultan Raev, the Secretary General of the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), welcomed a delegation from Andijan (Uzbekistan)  in Ankara and congratulated his guests on the occasion of April 15th, The Culture and Arts Workers’ Day.

In the speech he delivered at the reception, Secretary General Raev highlighted reforms carried out in the field of culture and art in Uzbekistan and said: “In recent years, significant reforms have been implemented in the field of culture and art in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Thanks to these reforms, the culture and arts sector is developing rapidly in line with the demands of the modern age. The congratulatory message sent by the President to culture and art professionals on this occasion is a clear indication of the high importance attached to this sector.”

“Artists Carry the Conscience and Memory of the Turkic World”

Secretary GeneralRaev, himself a renowned playwright and novelist who served for many years as Minister of Culture of Kyrgyzstan, put special emphasis on artists: “Culture and art workers do not merely practise a profession; they carry the shared conscience, memory and spirit of the Turkic World. As an artist myself, I am well aware of your selflessness, creativity and hard work. Today, I congratulate you wholeheartedly not only on the occasion of this festival, but also for your valuable contributions to the cultural future of the Turkic World.”

Secretary General Raev also touched upon the responsibility which Andijan will bear as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World in 2026, stating: “In 2026, the heart of the Turkic World will beat in Andijan. The festivals, art events and gatherings to be held will bring our brotherly peoples even closer together.”

At the end of the reception, certificates of appreciation were presented to the delegation members who had actively contributed to the “Andijan 2026 Capital of Culture of the Turkic World” promotional event held in TURKSOY Headquarters yesterday.

The Deputy Governor of Andijan Mr. Elyorbek Holmirzaev who delivered a speech during the handover of certificates of appreciation, expressed his pleasure to be in Ankara and participate in this meaningful initiative. Deputy Governor Holmirzaev also invitated the entire Turkic World to Andijan and said that it will be a great pleasure for them to welcome their kindred people from Türkiye in Andijan in 2026.”
