TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev held talks in Kazakhstan to strengthen cultural cooperation in the Turkic World
Mr. Sultan Raev, the Secretary General of the International Organisation of Turkic Culture TURKSOY, held a series of important meetings at the International Centre for the Promotion of Cultures, operating under UNESCO in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Secretary General Raev met with activists from the Kazakh People's Assembly to evaluate the work carried out within the framework of the cooperation protocol signed between TURKSOY and the Kazakh People's Assembly on September 8th, 2023 and exchanged views on future projects.
The meeting addressed the successful work carried out in supporting the achievements reached since 2023, strengthening cultural ties between the countries of the Turkic World, and expanding humanitarian cooperation. The strong support given by the Kazakh People's Assembly to TURKSOY's activities was emphasised, as well as the 5th International ‘Korkut Ata’ Film Festival and the 3rd TÜRKSOY International Theatre Festival to be held in Kazakhstan in 2025 along with large-scale celebration of the 180th anniversary of the birthday of the great Kazakh philosopher Abay Kunanbaiuly in the Turkic World.
Mr. Rasul Ahmetov, the Deputy Chairman of the Kazakh People's Assembly, stated that cooperation with TURKSOY is among the priorities for 2025 and that joint projects make a significant contribution to the cultural unity of the Turkic World. Mrs. Nursaule Altekova, the Director of the Almaty House of Friendship of the Republic, stated that the high-level meetings held at TURKSOY headquarters in Ankara opened up new doors for cooperation.
A special moment of the meeting was the presentation of TURKSOY awards. Secretary General Sultan Raev presented the Gold Medal of TURKSOY to Nursaule Altekova, the Director of the Almaty Friendship House of the Republic, for her outstanding services to Kazakh culture and the culture of the Turkic World.
While the silver medal of TURKSOY was awarded to Chinare Mambetaliyeva, the Chairwoman of the Mothers' Council of the Kazakh Kyrgyz Union and Bolat Ospanov, the Deputy Chairman of the Wisemen Council, Mrs. Güljan Tulekova, Member of the Mothers' Council of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan received the Certificate of honour of TURKSOY.
In his speech at the award ceremony, Secretary General Sultan Raev said, ‘Kazakhstan is at the heart of the Turkic World. Every effort made here directly contributes to the enrichment of our common Turkic culture and its transmission to new generations. I believe that our cooperation with the Kazakh People's Assembly will bear many more fruitful results.’
