Theaters of the Turkic World came together in Kazakhstan under the auspices of TURKSOY

The 2nd "SALEM" International Theatre Festival of Comedy Plays dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Kazakhstan's national author, State Prize laureate and playwright Saken Junusov took place at the Shahmet Kusainov Kazakh Music and Drama Theatre with the participation of the State Pantomime Theatre from Azerbaijan, the Istanbul State Theatre from Türkiye and theatres of Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, Turkestan, Pavlodar and Karagandy from Kazakhstan. At the festival, TURKSOY was represented by Mr. Elchin Gafarli, the representative of Azerbaijan to TURKSOY and Coordinator of the General Assembly of Theatre Managers.

 
The performances of the theatres participating in the festival with comedy plays were highly appreciated by the audience and were awarded with various prizes;
The Sabit Mukanov Kazakh Music and Drama Theatre was awarded the "Promising play" award for the comedy "Saran".
The Raiymbek Seitmetov Turkestan Music and Drama Theatre was awarded the "Special Jury Prize" for the play "Contracted Bride".
Mr. Safuan Shaymerdenov was awarded the "Best actor" award for the role of Zangar in the comedy "House full of joy" by the Gabit Musrepov State Academic Children and Youth Theatre.
The Istanbul State Theatre was awarded the "Best actor duet" prize for the play "Professional".

The performance of the Azerbaijan State Pantomime Theatre was awarded the "Best Pantomime Play" prize.
The "Grand Prix" award of the festival was awarded  to the Astana Musical Theatre with the play "13". 
 

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the  Representative of Azerbaijan to  TURKSOY and Coordinator of the General Assembly of Theatre Directors Mr.  Elchin Gafarli conveyed the greetings of TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev and congratulated the Organising Committee of the Festival  for the successful  organization of the Second "SALEM" International Theatre Festival of Comedy Theaters and congratulated all the award-winning theatre ensembles. At the end of his speech Mr. Gafarli offered a plaquette of TURKSOY to Mr. Jaras Kaldarov, the Director of the Shahmet Kusainov Kazakh Music and Drama Theatre.
