The first Muaythai Championship of the Turkic World began with a concert of the Turkic World organized by TURKSOY in Istanbul
The 1st Muaythai Championship of the Turkic World, organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Türkiye and the Turkish Muaythai Federation between August 14th-18th, 2024, started on August 15th, 2024 with a concert featuring colourful performances of artists representing TURKSOY member countries. During the opening ceremony, guests also had the opportunity to visit the exhibition of TURKSOY featuring Ancestral Sports of the Turkic World as well as various Publications of TURKSOY.
The event gathered TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Sayit Yusuf, the Head of Department of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Hakan Bebek, the President of the Turkish Muaythai Federation Hasan Yıldız, the Deputy Secretary General of the Organisation of Turkic States Sadi Jafarov and the Secretary General of the Turkish Muaythai Federation Korkmaz Atalay.
The opening ceremony of the 1st Muaythai Championship of the Turkic World featured performances of the ‘Kazına’ Folk Dance Ensemble and Soloist Ahmetali Omarov from Kazakhstan, the ‘Keremet’ Folk Dance Ensemble and Soloist Tumar Nurakova from Kyrgyzstan, the ‘Fergana’ Folk Dance Ensemble and Soloists Maftuna Kusyak, Umid Azim and Eldorbek Maksutov from Uzbekistan. Our artists gave the participants pleasant moments with the melodies of the Turkic World.
In the speech he delivered at the opening ceremony, TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Sayit Yusuf said: "Sport is a good opportunity for the development of relations between peoples and societies. Muaythai is a popular sport in the Turkic World. Hence, this is an important event we are organising here for the Turkic World. At the same time, we are combining this event with culture and art. At TURKSOY, we are working to introduce cultural values of Turkic peoples to the whole world. Although our organisation is a cultural and artistic organisation, we have recently started to support sports, which also plays an important role in promoting culture. It is a great pleasure for us to have come together with young people at this event."
The opening ceremony, which ended with the handover of souvenirs and a group photographe was followed by competitions of athletes from the Turkic World at the 1st Muaythai Championship of the Turkic World. The competitions will go on until August 18th, 2024.
