The 3rd International Theatre Festival of TURKSOY has begun in Aktau
The third International Theatre Festival of TURKSOY, one of the most important gatherings in the cultural and artistic life of the Turkic World, will be held in Aktau, which holds the title of Cultural Capital of the Turkic World this year.
The festival, which will take place between September 21st-26th, 2025, will bring together the deep-rooted artistic heritage and contemporary creativity of Turkic peoples on the same stage.
The festival will start with the Meeting of the Council of Theatre Directors entitled ‘Theatres of the Turkic World: Cultural Interaction, Creative Cooperation and Contemporary Development Trends’, which will address the cultural integration of Turkic-speaking peoples, their creative cooperation and current developments in theatre arts.
Dozens of Performances from Six Countries
Throughout the festival, distinguished theatre ensembles from Kazakhstan, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Hungary, the guest country of the festival this year, will bring perform plays infront of the audience in Aktau. Alongside the N. Janturin Regional Musical Drama Theatre, plays staged in various cultural centres across the city will offer audiences a wide range of dramaturgic experience.

Parasat Maydany (The Battle of Honour) – Kazakhstan (Psychological Drama)
Dar Ağacı – Azerbaijan (Tragedy)
Meddah ve Cellat – Türkiye (Drama)
The Last Letter– Kyrgyzstan (Drama)
Kabil and Habil – Uzbekistan (Musical Drama)
Eighty Buckets of Air – Hungary (Tragicomedy)
Bayram Han Türkmen – Turkmenistan (Drama)
A Cultural Bridge
Organised by TURKSOY, this festival is not only a theatrical feast, but also serves as an important bridge, bringing together Turkic-speaking peoples and Hungary on a common cultural and artistic platform while strengthening mutual understanding and brotherhood.
The festival's opening ceremony will take place on the evening of September 21st in the grand hall of the N. Janturin Regional Musical Drama Theatre. The closing ceremony will be held in the same hall on September 26th, 2025.
