Symposium held in commemoration of Ziya Gökalp on the 100th aniversary of his passing

The  Secretariat General of TURKSOY took part in the ‘Symposium on Culture and Civilisation from Past to Present" held  in commemoration of Ziya Gökalp on the 100th anniversary of his passing.

In his opening remarks, the Rector of the Ankara University of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Musa Kazım Arıcan touched upon  activities  to be carried out in cooperation with TURKSOY in Diyarbakır.

Mr. Mehmet Öz, the President of  Turkish Cultural Centers, who also  took the floor to deliver his opening speech, stressd  the cooperation with TURKSOY  in the preparation of the album  -entitled ‘Ziya Gökalp on the 100th Anniversary of his Passing’ and expressed his gratitude.

In the speech he delivered  at the symposium, Mr. Melik Özsöz, the Special Representative of the  Secretariat General of TURKSOY, said that TURKSOY is the heir to the intellectual heritage of Ziya Gökalp. 
Mr. Özsöz who also  said that 2026 was unanimously declared as the Year of the Commemoration of Ziya Gokalp upon  proposal of the General Secretariat at the meeting of the Permanent Council held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan with TURKSOY member states in November further added  that TURKSOY will actively take part in  activities carried out within this framework.

The event ended with the visit of a photography exhibition.
