Students' Theater Festival of the Turkic World held in Uzbekistan
The "1st Students’ Theatre Festival of the Turkic World" held in cooperation of the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Uzbekistan and the University of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan took place in Tashkent.
Within the scope of the first activity of the Union of Fine Arts Universities of the Turkic World established by TURKSOY this year, 7 student theatres from Fine Arts Universities of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Turkey participated in the festival held between May 22nd – 26th, 2023.
TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev and the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ozodbek Nazarbekov, who attended the opening ceremony of the "1st Turkic World Student Theatre Festival" congratulated the young artists taking part in this important event and wished them success in their profession.
Secretary General Raev who said a few words at the event pointed out that: “Organized for the first time in the Turkic World, this festival, opens up new opportunities for future young artists and gives them motivation. Our young generations are the future of Turkic culture and they are our most important resource to rely on when it comes to keeping our culture alive. TURKSOY always gives priority to young artists and intellectuals of the Turkic World to encourage their contribution to culture and art. Indeed, this is the main mission of our organization."
In the speech he delivered at the event, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ozodbek Nazarbekov said: "We are very pleased that this festival, which gathers young people of the Turkic World, is being held in Uzbekistan. I do sincerely believe that Tashkent will become the golden bridge of culture for the Turkic World. Supporting our youth means supporting our future! In this respect, TURKSOY fulfills its duty as a driving force."
The festival, which is to last for 4 days also featured a meeting of the Union of Fine Arts Universities of the Turkic World. At the meeting held with the participation of university rectors, participants approved the membership of the Ashgabat University of Culture and Arts as well as of the Academy of Arts affiliated to the Osh State University.
The Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. Ozodbek Nazarbekov and TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev were awarded the title of "Professor Honoris Causa" by the Scientific Committee of the University of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan.
