Students' Theater Festival of the Turkic World held in Uzbekistan
The "1st Student’s Theatre Festival of the Turkic World " was held in Tashkent in cooperation of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Uzbekistan and the University of Culture and Art of Uzbekistan.
Within the scope of the first activity of the Union of Fine Arts’ Universities of the Turkic World established by TURKSOY this year, 7 student theatres from Fine Arts Universities of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Turkey participated in the festival held between May 22nd – 26th 2023.
TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev and the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ozodbek Nazarbekov, who attended the opening ceremony of the festival congratulated the young artists taking part in this important event and wished them success in their professional career.
In the speech he delivered at the festival, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev said: "The Student’s Theatre Festival” which is being held for the first time in the Turkic World opens up a wide range of opportunities for future young talents and provides professional motivation for young people. It goes without saying that TURKSOY attaches great importance to young artists and intellectuals of the Turkic World and therefore provides strong support regarding their professional education and career. Young people of the Turkic World are not only the future of Turkic culture but also our most important asset in terms of human resources to keep this culture alive. As a matter of fact, the preservation of our common culture is the main mission of our organization."
The Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. Ozodbek Nazarbekov who also took the floor at the event said: "It is a very pleasing event for us that this festival, which brings together the youth of the Turkic World, is being held in Uzbekistan. I sincerely believe that Tashkent will become the golden bridge of culture of the Turkic World. Supporting our youth means supporting our future! In this respect, TURKSOY successfully fullfils its duty as a driving force in terms of the promotion, preservation and transmission of our culture to future generations."
Within the scope of the festival, which is to last for 4 days, a meeting of the Union of Fine Arts’ Universities of the Turkic World was also held. At the meeting which gathered university rectors, participants approved the Ashgabat University of Culture and Arts and the Academy of Arts affiliated to the Osh State University as new members of the Union of Fine Arts Universities of the Turkic World.
At the event, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. Ozodbek Nazarbekov and TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev were awarded the title of "Professor Honoris Causa" by the Scientific Committee of the University of Culture and Art of Uzbekistan.
