Strong emphasis on sports diplomacy by TURKSOY: successfull sportsmen rewarded in Almaty

In line with its commitment to the  strengthening of cultural ties of the Turkic World through the unifying power of sports, TURKSOY  held an important event in Almaty. In a ceremony which took place at the headquarters of the Professional Boxing Federation of Kazakhstan on  January 20th, 2026, the most successful sportsmen of 2025 were honoured by TURKSOY as part of the International Amateur Tournament of the WBC.

The Unifying Power of Sport on the Field

Representatives of the sporting community showed great interest in the award ceremony held on behalf of the Secretary General of TURKSOY. The awards were presented by Rahimjan Yerdenbekov, Sports Advisor to the General Secretariat and President of the Kazakhstan Professional Boxing Federation. This meaningful gathering stood out as part of the vision to strengthen cooperation between Turkic states and pass on their shared cultural heritage to younger generations through sport.

Not a Tournament, but a Bridge of Diplomacy

The Amateur WBC is seen by the organisation not only as a sporting event, but as a major platform for diplomacy that brings the Turkic peoples closer together, builds mutual trust and brings young talents together in a common ‘Turkic Sports Movement’.

The award ceremony in Almaty once again demonstrated the organisation's determination to deepen integration processes and strengthen the unity of the Turkic peoples, not only in the cultural sphere but also through sports diplomacy.
