Silkroad Music Festival of Sheki in the Historical Khan Palace

Within the framework of the 12th  International Silk Road Music Festival of Sheki organized in cooperation of TURKSOY with the Composers' Alliance of  Azerbaijan and the  Governorate of Sheki, a mugham concert was held in the historical Khan Palace.

The  International Silk Road Music Festival of Sheki   which reinforces its international character every year with the contribution  of TURKSOY and turns into a meeting point for the music of the Turkic World, intrpduced the art of mugham, the traditional music of Azerbaijan with a concert in the garden of the Sheki Khan Palace, which is one of the important works of Azerbaijani medieval architecture and was included in the World Cultural Heritage List of UNESCO in 2019.

The concert featured briliant performances of traditional mugham artists in the historical place which is visited by tens of thousands of tourists every year.

The soloists Agil Melikov, Huseyn Melikov and Vefa Vezirova, accompanied by the "Zefer" mugham ensemble under the baton of Rustam Muslimov, performed popular songs of Azerbaijani mugham art which were strongly appreciated by the audience in the courtyard of the Khan Palace.

The concert ended with  standing ovations of spectators.

Chinese folklore was introduced in Sheki

Another event of the 2nd day of the festival took place in the  Upper Caravanserai of Sheki, one of the ancient stops of the historical Silk Road.

Taking the scene at the Upper Caravanserai, the Music Ensemble of the Lianshan-Iy Autonomous Province of the People's Republic of China performed  music, songs and dances of China  which raised great interest among the audience.

At the event, the Governor of Sheki Mr. Elhan Usubov handed over the symbol of  the  International Silk Road Music Festival of Sheki  to the representatives of art ensembles which took part in the event.
