The event held on the eve of the 8th International Congress of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Dissemination of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan (WOSCU) with the support of the Association of Authors of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Civilisation Centre gathered a large number of guests.
Following a video especially prepared for Sultan Raev about his life and career, the event went on with the presentation of the book during which the Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the author Hayreddin Sultanov, the scholar Akmal Saidov, the President of the Association of authors of Uzbekistan Sirajeddin Sayid, the People's author of Uzbekistan Zukhriddin Isomiddinov, the Editor-in-Chief of the Saodat Journal Munavvara Usmanova, the philologist Dr. Jabbor Eshonkul, the Chairman of the Association of Authors of TURKSOY Ulukbek Esdevletov and other well-known scholars and officials took the floor. After the speeches, Secretary General Raev thanked the participants and expressed his hope that this book will raise great interest among Uzbek readers. Within the framework of the event Secretary General Sultan Raev received a special medal in the name of Ali Sher Navoi. At the end of the ceremony Mr. Raev signed his works.
Sharing his views on the event with members of the media at the end of the official ceremony, Secretary General Raev said: ‘This is a very important event for me as it gives me the oppotrunity to introduce my works to readers in Uzbek language. Indeed, I have staged theatre plays in Uzbekistan before, but as an author, I have never presented my work to readers in Uzbek language. Uzbek language is very close to me, I know this language and I grew up with the best examples of Uzbek literature. I think that the book will find its readers and the readers will find themselves in this book. In the coming days, TURKSOY will organise a series of events within the framework of the 8th International Congress of WOSCU. It is very important that this congress will be held in Uzbekistan, the centre of spirituality, with the contribution of the Islamic Civilisation Centre. Indeed, this is where humanitarian reforms of the Turkic world started. Great scholars of Islamic culture such as Imam Bukhari lived in these lands. Bukhari is one of the most illustrious personalities of the Turkic World. Hence, Uzbekistan is a key location to host events of this scale and I would therefore like to congratulate all those who contributed to the organization of this event.’
The 8th Congress of the International Society for the Study, Preservation and Dissemination of the World Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan (WOSCU) will be held in Tashkent and Samarkand, Uzbekistan on August 23rd-26th, 2024. This year more than 400 scholars and artists will take part in the events, while TURKSOY will organise 3 different panels on the role of cinema and media in the protection of cultural heritage within the framework of the congress.
