Secretary General Raev visited Amarsaikhan Sainbuyan, Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia.
Received by the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia with high-level protocol, Raev thanked Deputy Prime Minister Amarsaikhan Sainbuyan for his hospitality and said: “We are here to make a cultural contribution to the brotherhood of the Turkic and Mongolian peoples, who built great empires in Asia and whose roots go back thousands of years.”
Secretary General Raev started his speech addressing the Deputy Prime Minister and continued:
“The ancient advice in the inscriptions of Bilge Kagan, Kül Tigin and Tonyukuk, left to us by our ancestors from the 8th century in the territory of today’s Mongolia, which is the subject of the great Turkic epics, continues to guide us even in the 21st century. We undoubtedly consider Mongolia, the legacy of the great Genghis Khan, as an integral part of the Turkic cultural world.
The fact that Türkiye is among the countries that Mongolia has identified in its “Third Neighbor” policy, which was included in the new foreign policy concept adopted by the Parliament in 2011 with Resolution No. 10 in line with the 2010 Security Concept, is an indication of how much importance Mongolia attaches to its relations with Türkiye. This year is the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Türkiye and Mongolia, which began with the full support of the Republic of Türkiye, the depositary country of TURKSOY, in Mongolia’s membership process to the United Nations. Again, the close relations between TURKSOY member countries and Mongolia position Mongolia as an integral part of the Turkic world. Former Mongolian Ambassador to Ankara Bold RAWDAN’s opinion that Mongolia should become an observer member of the Organization of Turkic States in his article entitled “Türkiye-Mongolia Relations in the 21st Century” sent to SDE Academy is an indication that Mongolia sees itself as part of the Turkic world. Diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Mongolia, established on June 24, 1969, gained momentum with the opening of the Turkish Embassy in Ulaanbaatar in 1996 and the Mongolian Embassy in Ankara in 1997. Between 1999 and 2024, nearly three thousand Mongolian students graduated from Turkish universities. TIKA’s intensive strategic assistance to Mongolia continues”.
We invite Mongolia to join TURKSOY as an observer member.
During this bilateral meeting, Sultan Raev officially invited Mongolia to become an observer member of TURKSOY and stated that he would personally follow up on the issue of strengthening relations between Mongolia and the Turkic world.
Amarsaikhan Sainbuyan, Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia thanked Mr. Raev and said they are paying great attention to activities of TURKSOY and will support the events organized by TURKSOY in Mongolia. “TURKSOY is the apple of the eyes of the Turkic world; Mongolia is an old friend with not only Türkiye but also all independent Turkic states that are members of TURKSOY, feeding from the same historical source and using the same cultural codes. A presidential visit between Mongolia and Türkiye is expected in the near future, and decisions on cultural cooperation will likely be made at the presidential level during this visit. From this point of view, TURKSOY has a special importance in the eyes of the Mongolian state”.
During the very productive meeting, the future activities of TURKSOY in Mongolia were discussed and ideas were exchanged.
