Secretary General Raev attended the funeral ceremony of the late Kazak author and playwright Akim Tarazi

In a  funeral ceremony held on April 24th, 2025, in the presence of Secretary General Raev  in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, Akim Tarazi, one of the leading figures of Kazakh literature, author, and playwright, was laid to rest.

 

At the ceremony, a condolence message sent by the Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the family and loved ones of the late writer was read aloud. Also in attendance were the   Chairman of the Kazakh Senate Maulen Ashimbayev, the Speaker of the Parliament Erlan Koshanov, Akim Tarazi's relatives, representatives of the literary and artistic community, and numerous citizens.

 

A Legacy That Will Serve as an Inspiration for Future Generations

 

In the speech he delivered at the ceremony,  Secretary General   Raev noted that Akim Tarazi made significant contributions not only to Kazakh literature but also to cinema and theater arts. Mr. Raev who also emphasized the author's cultural legacy, said:  “He led an honest and honorable life and left behind a rich literary legacy that will serve as a source of inspiration for future generations.”

 

Akim Tarazi who received state awards and was honored with the title of “People's Artist of Kazakhstan,”  is known for his novels The Road to the Black Star, Punishment (Revenge), Moscow – Balasaz, and Tashjargan, as well as his theater works A Comedy That Isn't Funny, The Good Man, and Lucky Buken.

 

Additionally, Tarazi who was the screenwriter for Majit Begaliev's classic film “Traces Disappear on the Horizon” also contributed to the screenplay teams of Boto Şamshiyev's “A Bullet in the Black Pass” and Satıbaldı Narımbetov's “Leyla's Prayer.”
