Second Festival of Literature and Books of the Turkic World in Azerbaijan

The “Second Turkic World Literature and Book Festival”gathering authors, poets and literary figures of the Turkic World took place in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, with the contribution of TURKSOY.

The opening speeches of the festival dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birthday of Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of Azerbaijan this year, were delivered by the President of the Authors' Union and People's Author of Azerbaijan  Anar, the Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences Dilgem Taghiyev, the Chairman of the National Assembly's Civilisation Committee Genire Pashayeva, the Vice- President of the International Turkic Academy Erhan Turbedar and the  Representative of Azerbaijan to TURKSOY Elchin Gafarli along with  MPs Javanshir Feyziyev and Sabir Rustamkhanli.

The opening speeches were followed by the presentation of the  book entitled  "100 Years of Eternal Life" about the late President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev after which  the festival went on with various colourful events.

Each day of the festival was named after a Turkic state, and presentations, concerts and film screenings dedicated to important figures of that country in the field of literature and art. Within the framework of the festival, citizens of Azerbaijan also had the oppotrunity to  watch films from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Turkmenistan with the contribution of TURKSOY.

The festival which is to last until June 11th,  2023 will also introduce famous figures of the history, culture, art and literature of  peoples of the Turkic World to amateurs of literature. The event featuring  many publishers and books from the Turkic World will also offer the opportunity to visitors to get acquainted with world famous  authors of the  Turkic World such as Nizami Ganjavi, Mikhail Mushfik, Anar Rzayev, Chingiz Abdullayev, Abay Kunanbayuly, Chingiz Aitmatov, Suleyman Chelebi, Mehmet Akif Ersoy, Alishir Nevai, Magtumguly Pyragy  and Shandor Petofi through various presentations.
