Second Experience Exchange Programme of the Association of Museums of TURKSOY held in Ankara.
Organised in cooperation of the General Directorate of Cultural Assets and Museums of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye and the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), with the support of the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism of Ankara and the Municipality of Çubuk, the Second Experience Exchange Programme of the Association of Museums of TURKSOY ended with a closing ceremony and the handover of certificates of appreciation.
The exchange programme took place between July 21st-24th, 2026 with the participation of 15 museum professionals from Kazakhstan and Türkiye. During four days, participants attended seminars, technical study visits and professional knowledge-sharing activities in which they had the opportunity to examine Türkiye’s practices in the field of museology first-hand.
In a seminar held at the Museum of Anatolian Civilisations on the second day of the programme, Mrs. Tuğba Dirican, a conservator and expert from the General Directorate of Cultural Assets and Museums, gave a presentation on conservation and restoration practices. This was followed by a visit to the Ankara Regional Laboratory for Restoration and Conservation, where participants were briefed on the scientific research being currently carried out.
On the third day, Mrs. Bahar Çakırhan, the Director of the Museum of Anatolian Civilisations and Chief of Staff to the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, shared the museum’s practices with the participants. Later in the day, the delegation was given a tour of the Museum of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, the Museum of the Republic and the Treasury Museum.
In the closing ceremony, Mr. Bülent Gönültaş, the Deputy Director General for Cultural Assets and Museums at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye, stated that the programme had made significant contributions to the development of professional cooperation between museum professionals in Türkiye and the Turkic World.
Then, Dr. Barış Cavid Mövsümlü, the Head of the Department of Relations with Turkic-Speaking Communities at TURKSOY made an overall assessment of the programme before Mr. Ali Haydar Atalar, the Director of the Presidential July 15th Democracy Museum shared his evaluation of the programme’s professional benefits with the participants.
Following the speeches, certificates of participation were presented to museum professionals who took part in the programme.
During the ceremony, the Republic Museum also officially became a member of the Association of Museums of TURKSOY. The membership certificate was handed over to Mrs. Gamze Akgönül, Deputy Director of the Museum on behalf of Mrs. Bahar Çakırhan, the Director of the Republic Museum.
The Second Experience Programme of the Association of Museums of TURKSOY held in order to foster professional cooperation among museums in the Turkic World as well as the exchange of knowledge and experience regarding the preservation of shared cultural heritage ended with a cultural excursion programme after the closing ceremony.
