Scientific conference on “Nomads: History, Information, Lessons" in Astana

The Scientific Conference entitled ‘Nomads: History, Knowledge, Lessons’ held within the framework of the Fifth World Nomadic Games took place at the National Museum of Astana between  September 8th-12th, 2024.

While the conference was inaugurated by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurbek Sayasat Nurbekovic, its opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erbol Kuantaevich Myzabosinov, the Director General of the International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in Asia and the Pacific Countries of UNESCO - ICHCAP Kim Jisung and the President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktoti Raimkulova. All keynote speakers who took the floor at the conference  emphasized  the mission of Nomadic Games as a message of peace and friendship among peoples through ethno-sports and traditional culture.

The conference which was attended by 72 scientists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, the USA, Türkiye, South Korea and 16 other countries consisted of four main sessions, namely:

History and Culture; Traditional Archery: Common Cultural Heritage; Sports' Sciences and
Dietary Habits of Central Asian Nomads.

At the scientific conference, the Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to  TURKSOY Mr. Kanat Mambetaliyev presented a paper entitled ‘Systematic Foundations of Traditional Culture’ which raised  great interest among the audience. Mr. Mambetaliyev also conveyed the greetings and good wishes of TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev to the participants of the conference.
