Revival of ancient Turkic history on the Nowruz Plateau in Anev

The Nowruz plateau of the city of Anev hosting opening events of the Cultural Capital of the  Turkic World 2024  turned into a large celebration arena where episodes of the hisotry of Turkic civilisation were performed.

The common culture of kindred Turkic peoples was exhibited with large-scale performances held within the framework of  opening events in Anev, which will fly the flag of the Cultural Capital of the  Turkic World 2024, the trademark  project of TURKSOY.

At the event, representatives of foreign countries in Turkmenistan who came to attend the Opening Ceremony of Anev, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2024 also had the opportunity to get acquainted with Turkic traditions as they  were invited to enter the celebration area with a traditional welcome ceremony through  symbolic castle gates. The celebration area featured  blossoming of trees symbolising the revival of nature by Nowruz, the common holiday of Turkic peoples as well as all phases of wheat growth from the ploughing  of the soil ready to the  sowing and  harvesting as well as processing and grinding  followed by its use in  the preparation of bread and other products. Bread making in tandoors, cooking lamb and making Sümelek, which is prepared during Nowruz, were also exhibited.

In the celebration  area which reminded of  a festival, children played traditional Turkic games, Turkmen braves competed in belt wrestling, acrobats exhibited their skills on the rope, and the world-famous Ahal Teke horses were displayed. At the same time tribute was also paid to illustrious figures of the Turkic World  such as Magtumguly, Ibni Sina and Farabi who left their mark on the history of mankind and  science. Bakshis performed traditional folk melodies on their dutars. Craftsmen presented examples of ancestral handcrafts to the participants. The event organised by the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan  to recall Turkic history through colourful performances  was highly appreciated by the audience which attended the opening ceremony of  Anev,  the Cultural Capital of the  Turkic World 2024.
