Prizes awarded at the First Students' Theater Festival of TURKSOY
The "1st Students’ Theatre Festival of the Turkic World" carried out in Tashkent in cooperation of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Uzbekistan and the University of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan ended with a Closing Ceremony.
The Closing Ceremony of the festival gathering young theatre artists of the Turkic World for the first time, started with the opening speeches of TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ozodbek Nazarbekov, and the Rector of the University of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan Dr. Eldor Shermanov.
In his speech, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev stressed the excitement of bringing together students’ theatres of the Turkic World in Uzbekistan, one of the ancient cradles of our culture and arts as they are the future heirs of our culture. Mr. Raev further added that "Uzbekistan is not only the centre of the Turkic World but also the centre of world culture".
The Closing Ceremony of the festival also featured the handover of 6 awards.
While this was the first time special awards of TURKSOY were handed over to participants of the festival upon evaluation by its jury, winners of the award were the Psihoz Theatre (Kazakhstan) - "Best Play Award", the play "Dayless Nights" (Uzbekistan) - "Most Topical Subject", Damirbek Kayrat (Kyrgyzstan) - "Best Actor", Leman Salimova (Azerbaijan) - "Best Actress", Ibrayim Durdyev (Turkmenistan) - "Best Supporting Actor" and Jasmina Jumabekova (Kyrgyzstan) - "Best Supporting Actress".
At the event, members of delegations from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Turkmenistan were handed over Certificates of Appreciation, Diplomas and various souvenirs as a remembrance of the day.
In addition to this, 30th anniversary medals of TURKSOY were handed over by Secretary General Sultan Raev to the founding rectors of the "Union of Fine Arts’ Universities of the Turkic World" established on March 15th, 2023 in Almaty, Kazakhstan upon initiative of TURKSOY in recognition of their contribution Turkic World culture and art.
At the ceremony, future activities of cooperation among universities were touched upon while participants decided to carry out such festivals in different countries every year.
The ceremony ended with a special concert featuring students of the University of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan.
