The presentation of the novel "The Dead Do Not Return" by the classic of Kazakh literature and author of children's literature Berdibek Sokpakbayev was held in Almaty with the organisation of TURKSOY, the Union of Authors of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Secretary General of TURKSOY stressed that the initial circulation was 2 thousand copies. The event was attended by TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, Huseyin Varol, who translated the work into Turkish and the Representative of Kazakhstan to TURKSOY Bakitjan Omarov along with famous poets and authors of Kazakhstan as well as relatives of Sokpakbayev.
At the event, the representative of the Governorate of Almaty announced that a monument will be erected in Narynkol, the village where the author was born. He also said that a park, an educational centre and a regional library will be named after him.
In an exclusive interview, Secretary General Raev said : "Sokpakbayev wrote more than 20 stories, short stories and novels for children and young people. In his works "My Name is Husband", "Journey to Childhood", "The Dead Do Not Return" he skilfully portrayed the real face of his time. This year, the 100th anniversary of Berdibek Sokpakbayev's Birthday is celebrated at the UNESCO level. I think this book will be strongly appreciated by Turkish readers and children, because the life and fate of Berdibek Sokpakbaev is shown through the world of children, from their point of view. There are very few authors in the world who devote their work to children's literature".
