Officials of TURKSOY met with the winner of the Nobel Prize Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar in the United States of America

Within the framework of its visit to the USA to prepare the traditional  Nowruz Celebrations of TURKSOY planned to be held at the United Nations (UN) General Assembly along with major cultural and artistic centres of the United States of America the  delegation of TURKSOY held meetings with various officials and met with the winner of the Nobel Prize Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar.

Representing the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), which celebrates the 30th anniversary of its establishment this year, TURKSOY Chief Advisor to TURKSOY Secretary General Kemal Ün and TURKSOY Siberia Expert Dr. Timur B. Davletov met with Ambassador Sedat Önal, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Turkey to the United Nations, and discussed the plans for a 60-member team of Turkic World artists to be brought to the USA by TURKSOY to perform at the UN General Assembly in New York in March 2024.

The  delegation of TURKSOY also visited the Turkish diaspora living in New Jersey, where they met with Ayhan Özmekik, President of ASKON USA and discussed the promotion of the culture and art of the Turkic World to the Turks living in the USA through TURKSOY.  

In Washington DC, TURKSOY delegation met with Mr Hasan Murat Mercan, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the USA and discussed the Nowruz Celebrations and the opening of TURKSOY's Photograph Exhibition on the Cultural Capitals of the Turkic World at the Library of Congress.

In Los Angeles, Kemal Ün and Timur B. Davletov also met with Sinan Kuzum, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Los Angeles, Barbaros Tapan, President of the Hollywood Turkish Film and Drama Days, where the world premiere of the film "Atatürk" took place, Ergün Kırlıkovalı, former President of the Association of Turkish-American Associations (ATAA), renowned Turkish engineer and businessman, and discussed issues of cooperation with TURKSOY in the field of culture and arts.

The  delegation of TURKSOY also met with G. Lincoln McCurdy, known as "Friend of Turks" and former President of the Turkish Coalition of America, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gulzhanat Tayauova, Vice Rector of Turan University in Kazakhstan, who was in Washington as a guest lecturer at George Washington University, and finally visited the Aziz & Gwen Sancar Foundation and Sancar Turkish Cultural & Community Center in North Carolina, USA. 

In Los Angeles, Mr. Kemal Ün and  Mr. Timur B. Davletov met with the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Los Angeles Sinan Kuzum and the Turkish Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Hollywood, where the world premiere of the film "Atatürk" took place. 

The  Nobel Prize Laureate and famous Turkish scientist Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar and his wife  who live and conduct scientific research in Chapel Hill, met with the Honorary Turkish Consul of North Carolina Prof. Dr. Gwen Boles. During the meeting which was attended by Fevzi Yalın, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of AGSV on behalf of Ismail Arslan and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aziz & Gwen Sancar Foundation  and took place via video link with TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, officials of TURKSOY invited Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar, the winner of the Nobel Prize 2015  in Chemistry, to deliver a motivational speech at the Turkic World Youth Forum, which is planned to be held in May 2024 within the framework of the "TurkTime" programme launched upon  initiative of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart K. Tokayev.
