Message from TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev on the occasion of October 29th, The Day of the Republic of Türkiye
The message issued by TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev is stated below:
Esteemed Members of the Turkic World, Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Today, we are all sharing the pride and joy to celebarate the 103rd anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye. The Republic, proclaimed on October 29th, 1923 under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, represents not only the founding of a state but also the victory of a great struggle for independence and freedom.
Since its establishment 103 years ago, the Republic of Türkiye has been the shared pride and driving force of the Turkic World. It has always stood by its kindred nations, lent a helping hand in times of difficulty, and played a pioneering role in safeguarding our shared culture and history. Today, Türkiye continues to contribute to the unity of the Turkic World through its strong stance and cultural richness.
At the International Organisation for Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), we act in accordance with the motto expressed by the great wiseman of the Turkic World, Chingis Aitmatov: ‘Now is the time for unity and solidarity’. As Aitmatov also emphasised, recognising the reality that nations which fail to secure their unity will remain under constant pressure, we bear the responsibility of passing on the rich cultural heritage, history and values of the shared Turkic World to future generations. The sense of independence, unity and solidarity bestowed upon us by the Republic resonates in every corner of the Turkic World.
On this meaninful occasion, it is with gratitude and respect that I pay tribute to all our heroes who contributed to the founding of the Republic, foremost among them Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms. I celebrate the 103rd anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye with my most sincere wishes, and I hope that this auspicious festival brings peace, tranquillity and prosperity to the entire Turkic World.
