Meeting of TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev with Library Staff in Almaty

Within the framework of the Turkology Symposium of Baku,  TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev met with staff members of libraries in the Almaty Region.

Following some  modernization work, the Şelek Model Village Library of the Enbekşikazak district was officially reopened with the support of the Office of the Regional Governor of Almaty.

The ceremony was attended by the Governor of the Almaty Region Marat Sultanğaziyev, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, the Advisor to TURKSOY from Almaty Kayrat Mukanov and the Director of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gaziza Nurgaliyeva along with  intellectuals, poets and authors as well as representatives of the cultural sector, and local residents.

The renovated library is now equipped to meet modern standards, enriched with new collaborative workspaces, creative activity areas, and relaxation zones for readers. Additionally, the book storage systems have been updated, and digital resources have been made available.

The renovated Şelek Model Village Library has become one of the key projects aimed at fostering a culture of reading and increasing the younger generation’s interest in education.

At the event, Secretary General Sultan Raev donated 100 books to the library, including works by renowned poets and authors of the Turkic World, as well as books reflecting Turkic culture and history. In his speech, Raev also congratulated the library staff on the occasion of  May 21st, the Day of Culture and Arts Workers.
