Meeting of Secretary General Raev with the Minister of Culture and Tourism of North Macedonia in Skopje

Within the framework of his official visit to North Macedonia, Secretary General Sultan Raev met with the Minister of Culture and Tourism Mr. Zoran Ljutkov in the capital Skopje.

 

In the meeting, both parties discussed potential joint projects and activities to be implemented in the coming period within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation signed between TURKSOY and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of North Macedonia.

 

Minister Ljutkov expressed his gratitude for the hospitality shown to him during his visit to Ankara and conveyed his pleasure to welcome Secretary General Raev in North Macedonia. Noting that the Memorandum of Understanding should not only remain a formal document, Ljutkov emphasized the importance of supporting it with concrete projects in the fields of culture and tourism.

 

Secretary General Sultan Raev stated that TURKSOY considers the Memorandum of Understanding as the beginning of a new era in relations between both parties. Mr. Raev further noted that the document establishes a strong institutional foundation in the fields of culture, art, literature, performing arts, cultural heritage, and tourism, and added that it will be 

beneficial for this cooperation to be supported by a concrete action plan.

 

Emphasizing that the cultural diversity of North Macedonia holds significant value for TURKSOY, Secretary General Raev said that cities such as Skopje, Ohrid, Bitola, Gostivar, Kalkandelen, and Valandova have a strong potential for joint projects. The meeting also addressed ways to promote Ohrid’s historical, cultural, and natural heritage more widely across the Turkic World, including the organization of joint exhibitions, photography projects, documentaries, cultural days, and promotional programs.

 

Both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to a stronger promotion of the cultural heritage of the Turkish community living in North Macedonia through  activities of TURKSOY within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding  they mutually signed to to be carry out into concrete projects and activities in the fields of literature, theater, music, folk dances, painting, and photography.
